Jisonaayili(Jisonayili) is a community in Sagnarigu District in the Northern Region of Ghana. It is a linear settlement concentrated along the Jisonayili Road that divides the community into two halves. [1] [2] [3] The immediate neighboring communities include Kanvili, Gurugu, Chogu-Yapalsi and Kamina Barracks. The community is served by a public library located in the Jisonaayili Community Center.

The community is under the leadership of a local chief enskined by the main chief of Tamale (Gukpenaa). The present chief of Jisonaayili (2015), Alhaji Alhassan Abu was installed in February 2015 after his predecessor (Bomaha-naa Mahamadu) died in 2012.

Tamale Metropolitan District is one of the sixteen districts in the Northern Region of Ghana. It was originally established in 1988 as Tamale Municipal District, a municipal district assembly that was created from the former West Dagomba District Council. In August 2004, it was elevated to metropolitan district assembly status. Later, on 24 June 2012, a small northern part of the district was split off to create Sagnarigu District ; the remaining part has been retained as Tamale Metropolitan District. The district is located in the northwest part of Northern Region and has Tamale as its capital city. The city is the central business hub of the region.

<i>Gurren Lagann</i> Japanese anime television series

Gurren Lagann, known in Japan as Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, is a Japanese mecha anime television series animated by Gainax and co-produced by Aniplex and Konami. It ran for 27 episodes on TV Tokyo between April and September 2007. It was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and written by veteran playwright Kazuki Nakashima. Gurren Lagann takes place in a fictional future where the Spiral King, Lordgenome, rules Earth and forces mankind to live in isolated subterranean villages. The plot focuses on two teenagers, Simon and Kamina, who live in a subterranean village and wish to go to the surface. Using a mecha known as Lagann, they reach the surface and start fighting alongside other humans against Lordgenome's forces before fighting the forces of their true enemy.

Tamale International Airport is an airport serving Tamale, a city in the Northern Region of Ghana. It was established in December 1940 serving as the landing of military troops during the World War II. It is the third international airport in the country in addition to Kotoka International Airport and Kumasi International Airport, but, as of 2024, it lacked international flights. TML is the third-busiest airport in Ghana, with 148,548 passengers in 2020 and 217,958 passengers in 2021. The airport was initially staffed by the Air Force, but over time, aid was sought from GCAA to provide personnel for telecommunications, as well as to assume care of the RFFS and Air Traffic Services.

The Affair of Khra [Chra] was fought by British and French troops against German Polizeitruppen in the village of Khra, near the Khra River on 22 August 1914, during the Togoland Campaign of the First World War. The German defenders mined the approaches to the river, blew the bridges and dug in around the village on the far bank, ready to defend the crossing with rifles and three concealed machine-guns. The British–French attack was repulsed and then a German counter-attack was ordered but many troops refused the order and the attack was not delivered.

A small northern part of the Tamale Municipal District was split off to create Sagnarigu District on 24 June 2012, while the remaining part has been retained as the Tamale District. Later, on 15 March 2018, Sagnarigu District was elevated to municipal district assembly status to become Sagnarigu Municipal District. The municipality is located in the northwest part of Northern Region and has Sagnarigu as its capital city. Meanwhile, Tamale remains the capital city of the Northern Region as a whole.

Sulemana Tuntumba Boresa II was the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom and President of the Savannah Regional house of chiefs. He was enskinned in March 2010 after the demise of Bawah Abudu Doshie.
