World Rugby is the governing body for the sport of rugby union. World Rugby organises the Rugby World Cup every four years, the sport's most recognised and most profitable competition. It also organises a number of other international competitions, such as the World Rugby Sevens Series, the Rugby World Cup Sevens, the World Under 20 Championship, and the Pacific Nations Cup.
Rugby sevens is a variant of rugby union in which teams are made up of seven players playing seven-minute halves, instead of the usual 15 players playing 40-minute halves. Rugby sevens is administered by World Rugby, the body responsible for rugby union worldwide. The game is popular at all levels, with amateur and club tournaments generally held in the summer months. Sevens is one of the most well distributed forms of rugby, and is popular in parts of Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Americas, and especially in the South Pacific.
The Georgia national rugby union team, nicknamed The Lelos, is administered by the Georgian Rugby Union. The team takes part in the annual Rugby Europe Championship, and the Rugby World Cup which takes place every four years and in which it has appeared continuously since 2003.
The England national rugby union team represents the Rugby Football Union in men's international rugby union. They compete in the annual Six Nations Championship with France, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. England have won the championship on 29 occasions, winning the Grand Slam 14 times and the Triple Crown 26 times, making them the most successful outright winners in the tournament's history. They are currently the only team from the Northern Hemisphere to win the Rugby World Cup, having won the tournament in 2003, and have been runners-up on three further occasions.
Allianz Stadium in Twickenham, in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, England, is a rugby union stadium owned by the Rugby Football Union (RFU), English rugby union governing body, which has its headquarters there. The stadium is England's national rugby union stadium and is the venue of the England national rugby union team home matches.
The France national rugby union team represents the French Rugby Federation in men's international rugby union matches. Colloquially known as Le XV de France, the team traditionally wears blue shirts with a Gallic rooster embroidered on the chest, white shorts and red socks in reference to the French national flag. Les Bleus mostly play home matches at the Stade de France in Saint-Denis, near Paris. They compete in the annual Six Nations Championship along with England, Ireland, Italy, Scotland and Wales. France have won the tournament on 26 occasions, winning the Grand Slam 10 times.
The Canada men's national rugby union team represents the Canada in men's international rugby union competitions. They are overseen by Rugby Canada the governing body of rugby union in Canada.
Jarryd Lee Hayne is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer of Fijian descent. He briefly moved to the US to play the running back position for San Francisco 49ers in the 2015 NFL season. In 2016 he represented Fiji 7s in rugby union sevens.
Rugby union is the most popular sport in Fiji ; however, rugby league, netball, and association football are also widely played. Various forms of traditional boat racing and wrestling are also popular.
Alexander "Alex" Gray is an English former rugby union and American football player. He has played for the England Sevens, Newcastle Falcons, London Irish, Yorkshire Carnegie, and Bath Rugby, and played tight end for the Atlanta Falcons of the National Football League (NFL). He also appears as Apollo in the 2024 BBC One reboot of Gladiators.
Christian Wade is an English professional rugby union footballer, and former American football player, currently playing as a wing for Gloucester.
Virimi Vakatawa is a New Zealand-born French professional rugby union player who plays as a centre or a wing for Bristol Bears and the French national team.
Waisea Nayacalevu Vuidravuwalu is a Fijian professional rugby union player who plays as a centre for Premiership Rugby club Sale Sharks and captains the Fiji national team.
Semi Radradra Turagasoli-Waqavatu is a Fijian professional rugby union and rugby league footballer. He currently plays rugby union for the French club Lyon and the Fiji national team. Nicknamed 'Semi Trailer', Radradra has played primarily as a wing in both codes.
Osea Kolinisau, OF is a Fijian rugby union player who plays for Old Glory DC of Major League Rugby (MLR). He captained the Fiji Sevens side to their first olympic gold medal in the 2016 Rio Olympics. He is currently the coach of Fiji Mens Sevens Rugby.
Valentine Holmes is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who plays as a centre or winger for the St George Illawarra Dragons in the National Rugby League and Australia at international level.
Perry Baker is an American former rugby union player who played for the United States national rugby sevens team. He is a two-time World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year. At the time of his retirement, with 293 tries Baker ranked first among Americans and second among all international players in tries scored. He also ranked 7th on the all-time point-scoring list with 1,467.
Levani Botia is a Fijian rugby union footballer. Nicknamed "Demolition Man", he plays centre, flanker and wing for La Rochelle and his national team, Fiji.
Louis Rees-Zammit is a Welsh professional American football player and former rugby union player who plays as a wide receiver. He was most recently in the practice squad for the Jacksonville Jaguars of the National Football League (NFL). From 2018, Rees-Zammit played as a winger for Gloucester in Premiership Rugby, between 2020 and 2023 at international level for Wales, and in 2021 for the British & Irish Lions.
Emmanuel Latu-Meafou is a professional rugby union player who plays as a lock for Top 14 club Toulouse and the France national team. Born in New Zealand to parents from Samoa, before moving to Australia where he was raised, he later obtained French nationality in 2023 and made his debut for his adoptive country in 2024.
