Joakim Hedqvist (born 22 November 1977) is a Swedish professional bandy player, who currently plays for Edsbyns IF in Elitserien, the top division of Swedish bandy, with whom he has won five consecutive Swedish championships.
During the season 2008/2009 he started to represent the Russian team HK Zorky. He ended the contract before the intended time and returned to Sweden and play with Edsbyns IF.
He made his international début in Bandy World Championship 2009 where the Swedish team won gold medals and Hedqvist ended on top of the scoring table together with Jevgenij Ivanusjkin on 14 goals.

The Allsvenskan was split into two regional divisions: the Allsvenskan Norra (north) and the Allsvenskan Södra (south), in which the teams played during the autumn. After the Christmas holiday the Allsvenskan was split into Elitserien and Superallsvenskan. The season ended in March with a final on Studenternas IP like the Super Bowl.

Broberg/Söderhamn Bandy is a Swedish bandy club from Söderhamn who play in the Elitserien. Broberg/Söderhamn, also known as Brobergs IF, was founded on 19 April 1919. Broberg play their home matches at Hällåsen.

Stefan "Dino" Söderholm is a Swedish bandy manager and former player (midfielder) who most recently managed Sandvikens AIK. Söderholm was brought up by Edsbyns IF. Söderholm has played for the Swedish national bandy team making his debut in the 2001–02 season. Söderholm has been a member of Swedish championship winning squads in the 1999–2000, 2001–02 and 2002–03 seasons for Sandvikens AIK and the 2003–04 season for Edsbyns IF He was also a member of the Bandy World Cup winning squad in 2001–02 season.

The Elitserien is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018.

The Bandy World Championship 2009 was held from 18 to 25 January in Västerås, Sweden. Men's teams from 13 countries participated in the 2009 competition: Belarus, Finland, Kazakhstan, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Canada, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Mongolia, the Netherlands and the United States. Belarus retained their place in group A by beating the United States in a play-off in the previous tournament held in 2008. 44 games were played. Four out of these were played on sites other than Västerås. Those games were played in Solna, Stockholm, Eskilstuna and Uppsala. The main venues were ABB Arena Syd in Västerås, Sweden's largest indoor arena for bandy, and Hakonplan, an outdoor stadium. These two arenas are in the same recreation area in Västerås, Rocklunda sports park.

The regular season began on 21 October 2016, and the final was played at Tele2 Arena in Stockholm on 25 March 2017. Edsbyns IF won the Swedish national championship title by defeating Bollnäs GIF, 3–1, in the final game, thereby securing Edsbyn's tenth championship title, making the club alone the third most successful Swedish bandy club so far.
