Patrik Nilsson (born 15 March 1982) is a Swedish bandy player, currently with Sandvikens AIK in the Swedish Elitserien.

Career

Nilsson started playing bandy at Söderfors GoIF but left to play in the top division at Sandvikens AIK. He has played for the Swedish national bandy team. All of his appearances have been while he was a Sandvikens AIK player. Nilsson was a member of the Sandvikens AIK squads that won the Swedish Championship in the 2001–02 and 2002–03 seasons and he was also a member of the Bandy World Cup winning squad in 2001–02 season.

He was the top scorer in the 2006–07 and the 2007–08 top division seasons with 70 and 94 goals respectively. On 26 February 2008, after scoring five goals in a playoff game against Motala, Nilsson set a milestone by exceeding 100 goals in one season. [1]

After the great season with SAIK, he went on to play in the Russian League for Kazan. After a season with trouble in Russia he returned to Sweden but this time to Hammarby IF Bandy. Nilsson signed a one-year contract with the club with an option for a second.

On 8 February 2022, he announced his retirement from bandy following the 2021–2022 season. [2]

Hammarby IF Bandyförening is a Swedish bandy club from Södermalm, Stockholm, a section of the sports club Hammarby IF.

The combination Allsvenskan and Elitserien was earlier the highest level of bandy in Sweden contested annually between Swedish bandy clubs. The Allsvenskan was split into two regional divisions: the Allsvenskan Norra (north) and the Allsvenskan Södra (south), in which the teams played during the autumn. After the Christmas holiday the Allsvenskan was split into Elitserien and Superallsvenskan. The season ended in March with a final on Studenternas IP like the Super Bowl.

Joel Othén is a Swedish Bandy player who currently plays for Sandvikens AIK as a goalkeeper. Joel was brought up by Skutskärs IF but moved when he was still young to go to Sandvikens AIK. Joel has played for the Swedish youth team.

Jonas Svensson is a Swedish Bandy player who currently plays for Ljusdals BK as a goalkeeper. Jonas was developed at Ljusdals BK and have after that played for a lot of clubs. In April 2008 he signed, together with Hammarbys other goalkeeper Patrik Nordgaard, a new two-year contract with Hammarby. He returned home to Ljusdal in summer of 2009.

Söderholm has played for the Swedish national bandy team making his debut in the 2001–02 season. The Elitserien is since the 2007–08 season the highest bandy league in Sweden. It consists of 14 teams. The season ends with one final game in March. The final was held at Studenternas IP in Uppsala from 1991 until 2012. In 2013 and 2014 the final was played at Friends Arena in Solna, and from 2015 to 2017 it was played at the Tele2 Arena. The final returned to 4,600-capacity Studenternas IP indoor stadium in 2018.
