Joan Winifred Francis ( née Hudson;9 September 1920 –23 July 1961) was a New Zealand cricketer who played primarily as a right-arm medium bowler. She appeared in five Test matches for New Zealand between 1948 and 1954. She played domestic cricket for Wellington. [1] [2]

Hockley was the first woman to reach 4000 ODI runs and to play 100 ODIs. She was also the first woman to score 1,000 runs in ODIs for New Zealand. Her international career spanned from 1979 to 2000,and she played domestic cricket for Canterbury and North Shore.

An English cricket team captained by Lord Harris toured Australia and New Zealand in 1878–79 in a private tour organised by the Melbourne Cricket Club.
