The Minneapolis City Council is the legislative branch of the city of Minneapolis in Minnesota,United States. Each member represents one of the 13 wards in Minneapolis,elected for a four-year term. The current council structure has been in place since the 1950s. The University of Minnesota Rochester (UMR) is a public college in Rochester,Minnesota. It is part of the University of Minnesota system and focuses primarily on general health sciences. It was formally established by an act of the state legislature in December 2006. Mark A. Nordenberg is the chancellor emeritus of the University of Pittsburgh and chair of the university's Institute of Politics. A professor of law and university administrator,Nordenberg served as the seventeenth Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh from 1996 to 2014. Nordenberg served as the Dean of the University of Pittsburgh School of Law between 1985 and 1993 and other various administrative positions before becoming interim Chancellor of the University of Pittsburgh in 1995,a position which became permanent the following year. He became known as Nordy to many Pitt students,who voted to name a recreation center and arcade in the William Pitt Union as Nordy's Place,and is also the namesake of the university's endowed Nordenberg Scholarships and the Nordenberg Hall dormitory on the university's campus.
For over 60 years,the Council for International Exchange of Scholars (CIES) has helped administer the Fulbright Scholar Program,the U.S. government's flagship academic exchange effort,on behalf of the United States Department of State,Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. Founded in 1947,CIES is a private organization with a staff of around 60 people supplemented by 300 voluntary peer reviewers,primarily academics. Eastcliff is a 20-room house overlooking the Mississippi River in St. Paul,Minnesota,United States,which serves as the official residence of the president of the University of Minnesota system. The University of Pittsburgh Men's Glee Club is an internationally recognized men's choir of students at the University of Pittsburgh and is the oldest nonathletic extracurricular group at the University. Founded in 1890 by John L. High,the Glee Club performs at the First Baptist Church of Pittsburgh and normally goes on a concert tour each year,with an international tour every 3rd year. Recently,the Glee Club has performed in areas such as Texas,Philadelphia,New York City,Belgium,France,and a recent 125th anniversary tour of Italy in the spring of 2015.
Andrea Jenkins is an American politician,writer,performance artist,poet,and transgender activist. She is known for being the first Black openly transgender woman elected to public office in the United States,since January 2018 on the Minneapolis City Council and as the council's president from January 2022 to January 2024.
Sheila M. Riggs serves as chair of the Department of Primary Dental Care at the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry as well as the community engagement director for the University's Clinical and Translational Science Institute. In these roles,she pursues a wide range of research interests as well as providing leadership to the pioneering Dental Therapy Program within her department. The Dental Therapist program in Minnesota is among the first to be developed and accredited in the US and is designed to increase access to dental care for underserved populations.

Katharine Jane Densford (1890–1978) was an American nurse who made important contributions to nursing education and to nursing services during World War II. Densford was Director of the University of Minnesota School of Nursing,serving in that position from 1930 to 1959. Densford’s leadership of Minnesota’s flagship school of nursing,located in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area provided the model for nursing education throughout the state and nation. Her pragmatic leadership during World War II made a significant contribution to the United States war effort.
Margaret "Peggy" E. Lucas is a retired business-person and public servant based in Minneapolis,Minnesota. She co-founded Brighton Development Corporation and was integral to rebuilding parts of the Minneapolis waterfront,with a particularly active period in the 1990s. She served on the board of regents for St John's University and the University of Minnesota and as the vice-president of the League of Women Voters,among other civic contributions.
