Joanes Urkixo Beitia (born 11 June 1955) is a Basque language writer, and film and television writer.
Urkixo was born in Bilbao. He studied Basque philology at the University of Deusto. He worked as a professor of Basque and Spanish and as a translator and adapter of films and series (in Basque and Spanish). Between 1978 and 1980 he collaborated with the literary group Pott banda, of which were members Bernardo Atxaga, Joxemari Iturralde, and Joseba Sarrionandia. In 1983, he created the literary magazine Tua-ttua along with Laura Mintegi.
He has also contributed to various newspapers and magazines, including Euskadi Sioux, Anaitasuna, Pott, Argia, Susa, Egunkaria and Zehar. [1]
In 2003 he was the winner of the V Abril Prize, given by Associate Editors, with his work Gerlari zuria (White War). [2]

Bernardo Atxaga, pseudonym of Joseba Irazu Garmendia, is a Spanish Basque writer and self-translator.
The mythology of the ancient Basques largely did not survive the arrival of Christianity in the Basque Country between the 4th and 12th century AD. Most of what is known about elements of this original belief system is based on the analysis of legends, the study of place names and scant historical references to pagan rituals practised by the Basques.
Kirmen Uribe is a Basque language writer. He won the National Prize for Literature in Spain in 2009 for his first novel Bilbao-New York-Bilbao, which has been translated into over 15 languages. In 1965 he created a band of Basque Music with Mikel Laboa, Benito Lertxundi, Joxean Artze, Jose Angel Irigarai and Lourdes Iriondo. The band, which was called "Ez Dok Amairu", disappeared in 1972, but Xabier Lete kept on singing with Lourdes Iriondo, who, by that time, had become his wife.

He is an author of children's and youth literature, a specialty in which he has won several prizes, has also been dedicated to translation and literature for adults and has a facet as creator of shows that combine music, image and literature. He was included in the White Ravens catalog and the IBBY Honor Roll.
