Joel Waweru Mwangi has been the Anglican bishop of Bishop of Nairobi [1] in the Province of Kenya since 2010: [2]

Mwangi was born on 4 October 1959 at Gakira. He was educated at the high school in Kangema and the University of Nairobi. He joined the Church Army, rising to be Assistant General Secretary, Africa. He was ordained in 1994 and has served the church in Minnesota, Sheffield and Buruburu before his appointment as bishop. [3]

Manasses Kuria was a Kenyan Anglican archbishop. He was the second African archbishop and bishop of Nairobi in the Anglican Church of Kenya.

Buruburu is a housing estate within Nairobi City County in Kenya. Buruburu is a vast development inhabited by lower middle-class people. The estate was designed in 1974 and comprises six phases, with the fifth completed in the mid-1980s. The estate is an expansive settlement which spreads over 85 ha, and located 8 km outside the Nairobi Central Business District. Due to its proximity to the city, the estate has attracted populations from every walks of life. This has led to the proliferation of trade and other home-based enterprises (HBEs) in the estate. The houses in Buruburu resemble modern architecture of white buildings with striking orange tiled roof tops. Buruburu gave rise to modern-day Sheng, a language spoken by virtually all of Nairobi's youth.

The Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) is a series of conferences of conservative Anglican bishops and leaders, the first of which was held in Jerusalem from 22 to 29 June 2008 to address the growing controversy of the divisions in the Anglican Communion, the rise of secularism, as well as concerns with HIV/AIDS and poverty. As a result of the conference, the Jerusalem Declaration was issued and the Global Fellowship of Confessing Anglicans was created. The conference participants also called for the creation of the Anglican Church in North America as an alternative to both the Episcopal Church in the United States and the Anglican Church of Canada, and declared that recognition by the Archbishop of Canterbury is not necessary to Anglican identity.
