Johan Pieter Gelderblom is a South African retired politician. A former member of the New National Party,he served as a party representative in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament. From 2001 to 2004,he served as the Western Cape Minister of Agriculture and Tourism,and Environmental Affairs. After the 2004 election,he became the chairperson of the provincial parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). He joined the African National Congress in 2005. Gelderblom served as an ANC MP from 2009 to 2014.
Gelderblom graduated from Stellenbosch University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in 1975. [2]
Gelderblom was elected to the Western Cape Provincial Parliament as a representative of the New National Party. He served as chair of the Standing Committee on Community Safety &Economic Affairs. In December 2001,Gelderblom was appointed by NNP premier Peter Marais as the Minister of Agriculture,Tourism and Gambling. [3] Geldemblom remained in his position following NNP leader Marthinus van Schalkwyk's election as premier. He later took over the Environment Affairs and Development Planning portfolio following David Malatsi's departure from the executive. [4]
Following the NNP's poor performance in the 2004 election,there was uncertainty on whether Gelderblom would remain in his position. [5] The newly elected premier Ebrahim Rasool from the African National Congress did not reappoint Gelderblom to the provincial cabinet. [6] Gelderblom was instead appointed as the Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Public Accounts (SCOPA). [7] During the 2005 floor crossing period,Gelderblom crossed the floor and joined the ANC. [8]
In 2007,he was appointed as the Chairperson on Social Development and Heath Committee. [2] Gelderblom was elected as an ANC Member of Parliament in the National Assembly. [9] During his time in parliament,he served on the Standing Committee on Appropriations. In 2011,he was elected onto the ANC's provincial executive committee in the Western Cape. [10] Gelderblom was not placed on the ANC candidate lists for the 2014 elections,and he left the National Assembly on 6 May 2014. [2]
The politics of the Western Cape differs from that of most other provinces in South Africa,because,unlike the other provinces,the African National Congress (ANC) does not dominate the political landscape. The Western Cape's political landscape is also notable for the presence of a relatively strong local devolution and independence movement.

He served as the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Cultural Affairs and Sport from 2008 to 2009,and as the Western Cape Provincial Minister of Education from 2004 to 2008.
Daylin Gary Mitchell is a South African politician who has been the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since December 2022. A member of the governing Democratic Alliance,he has been a Member of the Provincial Parliament since September 2015. He had previously served as the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works from May 2021 until April 2022 and then as Provincial Minister of Mobility until his election as speaker.
Mohammed Haniff Hoosen is a South African politician who has served as a Member for the National Assembly for the Independent Democrats (ID) (2007–2014) and currently for the Democratic Alliance (DA) (2014–present). Within the Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet,he serves as the DA's spokesperson on the Standing Committee on the Auditor-General. He was the Shadow Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2019 to 2020. Hoosen was also the Shadow Minister of Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019.
Mervyn Alexander Dirks is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. A member of the African National Congress,he became an MP in 2014 and was the ANC's chief whip in the Standing Committee of Public Accounts until his suspension in January 2022. Dirks was a municipal councillor of the Msunduzi Local Municipality where he served as the deputy mayor.

In 2014 he resigned from COPE and rejoined the African National Congress. Mlenzana was elected to the National Assembly in 2019.
Tandi Mahambehlala is a South African politician who has served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism since 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC),she served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation from 2019 to 2021. Mahambehlala was Deputy Minister of Communications between 2017 and 2018. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development,Environment,Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018,when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.
