The politics of the Western Cape differs from that of most other provinces in South Africa,because,unlike the other provinces,the African National Congress (ANC) does not dominate the political landscape. The Western Cape's political landscape is also notable for the presence of a relatively strong local devolution and independence movement.

He served as Leader of the Opposition in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2014 to 2016,and as Chairperson of the Western Cape African National Congress from 2011 to 2016. He served as Deputy Minister of International Relations and Cooperation in the cabinet of Jacob Zuma. From 2009 to 2014,he was a Member of the National Assembly. Fransman served as a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 1999 to 2009,and again from 2014 to 2016.

Daylin Gary Mitchell is a South African politician who has been the Speaker of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament since December 2022. A member of the governing Democratic Alliance,he has been a Member of the Provincial Parliament since September 2015. He had previously served as the Provincial Minister of Transport and Public Works from May 2021 until April 2022 and then as Provincial Minister of Mobility until his election as speaker.
Mohammed Haniff Hoosen is a South African politician who has served as a Member for the National Assembly for the Independent Democrats (ID) (2007–2014) and currently for the Democratic Alliance (DA) (2014–present). Within the Official Opposition Shadow Cabinet,he serves as the DA's spokesperson on the Standing Committee on the Auditor-General. He was the Shadow Minister of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs from 2019 to 2020. Hoosen was also the Shadow Minister of Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019.
Mervyn Alexander Dirks is a South African politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa. A member of the African National Congress,he became an MP in 2014 and was the ANC's chief whip in the Standing Committee of Public Accounts until his suspension in January 2022. Dirks was a municipal councillor of the Msunduzi Local Municipality where he served as the deputy mayor.
Bongiwe Mbinqo-Gigaba is a South African politician. She is the current chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Basic Education in the National Assembly of South Africa and a Member of Parliament representing the African National Congress. Prior to serving in parliament,she was a Member of the Executive Council (MEC) in the Northern Cape provincial government.
Alexandra Jennifer Beukes is a South African politician who has been a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly since 12 June 2019. Prior to serving in the National Assembly,she was a Member of the Northern Cape Provincial Legislature and the mayor of the Khâi-Ma Local Municipality. Beukes is a member of the African National Congress.
Lorraine Juliette Botha was a South African politician. A member of the Democratic Alliance,she was a Member of the Western Cape Provincial Parliament from 2014 up to her death. Botha served as the chief whip of the DA caucus from May 2022 until her death in August 2022. She was the chairperson of the Standing Committee on Education from 2019 until 2022.
Zola Mlenzana is a South African politician. A former member of the Congress of the People,he was elected as a Permanent Delegate to the National Council of Provinces from the Eastern Cape in 2009. In 2014 he resigned from COPE and rejoined the African National Congress. Mlenzana was elected to the National Assembly in 2019.
Tandi Mahambehlala is a South African politician who has served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on Tourism since 2021. A member of the African National Congress (ANC),she served as the Chairperson of the Portfolio Committee on International Relations and Cooperation from 2019 to 2021. Mahambehlala was Deputy Minister of Communications between 2017 and 2018. She has been a Member of Parliament since 2014.
Motlalepula Ziphora Rosho is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected deputy speaker of the North West Provincial Legislature in 2010. In 2012 she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Economic Development,Environment,Conservation and Tourism in the North West Provincial Government. Rosho was discharged from the executive council in 2014 and then served in the provincial legislature as a committee chairperson until December 2018,when she returned to the executive as MEC for Local Government and Human Settlement. Rosho was appointed as MEC for Finance after the 2019 elections.
Itiseng Kenneth Morolong is a South African politician,who was elected as a Member of Parliament for the African National Congress in the 2019 national elections.
Nomasonto Evelyn Motaung is a South African politician who was elected as a Member of Parliament (MP) for the African National Congress in the 2019 national election.
Sakhumzi Stoffels Somyo is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,he was elected to the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature in 2014. He was then appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) responsible for the Finance,Economic Development,Environment and Tourism portfolio. In 2018,he was fired as an MEC. Somyo was elected to Parliament in 2019. Soon after,he was elected Chairperson of the Standing Committee on Auditor General.
Phumeza Theodora Mpushe is a South African politician who has been an African National Congress Member of the National Assembly of South Africa since August 2020. She had previously been a member of the Eastern Cape Provincial Legislature.
Madipoane Refiloe Moremadi Mothapo is a South African politician who has served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa for the African National Congress since 2021. She had previously served as an African National Congress MP from 2014 to 2019.
Matodzi Mirriam Ramadwa is a South African politician. A member of the African National Congress,she was elected to the Limpopo Provincial Legislature in 2009. In 2013,she was appointed as the Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for Sports,Arts and Culture. Ramada was elected as the speaker of the provincial legislature in 2014. In 2015,she resigned as speaker. Ramadwa was elected to the National Assembly of South Africa in 2019.
Freddie Adams is a South African retired politician. A former member of the New National Party,he joined the National Council of Provinces in 2003. He joined the African National Congress in 2005. After the 2014 election,Adams became a member of the National Assembly. Adams left Parliament at the 2019 election.
Francois Beukman is a South African attorney and former politician who served as a Member of the National Assembly of South Africa from 1999 to 2009 and again from 2014 to 2019.
