John Burns Buxton (31 October 1933 – 3 October 2007) was a New Zealand rugby union player. A flanker, Buxton represented Manawatu, Canterbury, Otago and Auckland at a provincial level, and was a member of the New Zealand national side, the All Blacks, in 1955 and 1956. He played two games for the All Blacks, both of them test matches. He died on October 3, 2007, at age 73. [1]

The 2007 All Golds Tour was a tour by the New Zealand national rugby league team, the Kiwis, of Great Britain and France. Conducted as part of the celebrations of a century of rugby league in New Zealand, it was a re-creation of the original New Zealand rugby league tour of Great Britain in 1907. The Kiwis played four test matches, winning one against France, but losing the series against Great Britain 3–0, failing to win the Baskerville Shield. A special game was played between the "All Golds" and the "Northern Union", a New Zealand vs Great Britain veterans game for internationally retired players. The tour also involved a reception with HM Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace for the squad.

The National Rugby Union teams of France and New Zealand have been playing each other for over a century. The first encounter, during the historic 1905–1906 All Blacks tour of Europe and North America, which was also France's first Test, took place in Paris in January 1906 and was won by New Zealand 38–8. It was not until their third meeting, in 1954, that France secured their first win over New Zealand 3-0.
