John Kane (born 8 June 1987) is a footballer who plays as a defender for Pollok.
Kane came through the youth system at Hibernian. He made his Scottish Premier League debut at the age of 16 against Livingston in April 2004, coming on as a late substitute for Kevin Thomson. [1] Although a Scotland Under–18 international, this was to be his only first-team appearance for Hibs, and he joined Motherwell in the January 2005 transfer window. [2] [3]
After a spell at Partick Thistle, he briefly dropped to Junior level with Glenafton Athletic before signing for Stranraer in June 2007, under the management of former Motherwell team-mate Gerry Britton. [4] [5] A successful spell at the club saw him named player of the year two seasons running before leaving for the US and a year at Creighton University in Nebraska. Kane returned to Scotland with Stirling Albion in 2010 before rejoining Stranraer for a second spell. [6]
Kane signed for Clyde in June 2012. [7] He then joined Junior side Pollok. [8]
Pollok Football Club is a Scottish football club based in Newlands in the southside of the city of Glasgow. Founded in 1908, the club spent over a century in the junior ranks but now competes in the West of Scotland Football League in tier six of the Scottish football pyramid. It is one of the biggest football clubs operating in Scottish non-league football, regularly attracting crowds of around 700, and drawing over 1000 for big matches. Pollok play at Newlandsfield Park and wear black and white stripes. Their traditional rivals are Arthurlie of Barrhead.

The 2011–12 season was Motherwell's thirteenth consecutive season in the Scottish Premier League, having competed in it since its inauguration in 1998–99. Motherwell finished 3rd in the league, qualifying for the UEFA Champions League, were knocked out of the Scottish Cup at the Quarter-Finals stage by Aberdeen, and knocked out at the 3rd Round stage by Hibernian in the League Cup.
