John Madden (born 13 February 1968 [1] ) is an Irish hurling selector and former player whose championship career with the Tipperary senior team lasted three years from 1989 to 1991.
Born in Lorrha, County Tipperary, Madden first appeared at underage levels with the Lorrha–Dorrha club. He subsequently joined the club's senior team and won one North Tipperary championship medal in 1989.
Madden made his debut on the inter-county scene at the age of sixteen when he was picked on the Tipperary minor panel, however, he enjoyed little success in this grade. After failing to make the Tipperary under-21 team in 1987, he was added to the panel in 1988 before claiming Munster and All-Ireland medals in the grade in 1989. Madden was added to the Tipperary senior panel in 1989 and won his first All-Ireland medal that year, albeit as a non-playing substitute. He later became a regular on the starting fifteen, however, he won his second All-Ireland medal in 1991 as a non-playing substitute once again. Madden played his last game for Tipperary in July 1991.[ citation needed ]
In retirement from playing Madden became involved in team management and coaching. He was a selector with the Portumna senior team that won the All-Ireland title in 2014. Madden later served as manager of the Silvermines senior team before being appointed as a selector with the Tipperary senior team in 2015. . Lorrha–Dorrha GAA is a Tipperary GAA club which is located in County Tipperary, Ireland. Both hurling and Gaelic football are played in the "North Tipperary" divisional competitions. The club is centred on the parish of "Lorrha & Dorrha". The club is most famous for Hurling Team of the Millennium goalkeeper Tony Reddin, who played with the club from 1947 to 1957. Ken Hogan, who is a former manager and goalkeeper of Tipperary GAA, also played with Lorrha as did the heroes of the 1971 All-Ireland Championship team, Liam King and Noel Lane. In more recent times, John Madden was the club's representative on the team which won All-Ireland honours in 1989 and 1991. Also notable is Patrick 'Bonner' Maher (2009–present) who is the only Lorrha player to win both All-Ireland and Munster Medals at Senior, Under-21 and Minor with Tipperary.

Bergin is a nephew of Jack Bergin, who was a Tipperary selector when they won the All-Ireland title in 2001, he is also a first cousin of former Galway Footballer Joe Bergin. Bergin has also played with the Tipperary senior football team and was part of the panel for the 2013 McGrath Cup. Bergin went to the United States to live in 2005 and spent five years living in New York City and two years in San Francisco before returning to Ireland in 2012.
Brian Hogan is an Irish hurler who plays for North Tipperary club Lorrha and at inter-county level with the Tipperary senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a goalkeeper.
