John Noel Pallant (born 24 December 1944) is an English former international rugby union player. [1]

Contents

Pallant, a native of Nottingham, was educated at High Pavement Grammar School and won an All England schoolboy hammer-throwing title in 1961, setting a competition record with his throw of 159 ft 3+12 in (48.552 m). [2]

A number eight, Pallant played his rugby for Nottingham and Loughborough Students. He gained three England caps in the 1967 Five Nations Championship, debuting against Ireland at Lansdowne Road. [3]

Pallant was Director of Sport at Merchant Taylors' School, Northwood. [4]

Myer E. Rosenblum OAM was an Australian sportsman and lawyer. He was born in South Africa to parents who had migrated from present-day Belarus. His family moved to Sydney, Australia in 1914, and he was educated at Fort Street High School and Sydney University. He played four Test matches for the Australian Rugby Union team in 1928. He set up a law firm, "M. Rosenblum and Co" in the 1930s; in 1959 he employed as an articled clerk John Howard who later became an Australian prime minister. In his later years he was an active philanthropist. He died of a heart attack at the age of 95.

He gained 22 caps for Scotland national rugby union team including five appearances at the 1991 Rugby World Cup. Gary Halpin was an Irish rugby union international player and champion hammer thrower. He played as a prop for Wanderers F.C., Leinster, London Irish, Harlequins and Ireland. He scored a try against New Zealand at the 1995 Rugby World Cup and subsequently celebrated with an obscene gesture directed at the All Blacks.

David Pears is a former English rugby union player, who played for Harlequins and England. He played as a fly-half. He won 4 England caps, the first two on the 1990 England rugby union tour of Argentina, came on as a replacement during the 1992 Six Nations match against France and started at full back against France two years later.

Douglas "Dan'l" Lambert was an English rugby union footballer for Harlequins, England, and the Barbarians. He won 7 caps for England between 1907 and 1911, notably scoring 5 tries on debut against France, and 22 points in another match against France. Lambert was all round sportsman: he was a scratch golfer, played football (soccer) for Corinthian Casuals, and kept wicket (cricket) for Hertforshire. He was killed in action at the Battle of Loos on 13 October 1915.
