John Sekula (January 14, 1969 – October 28, 2010) was the original guitarist for heavy metal band Mushroomhead.

Biography

Also known as J.J. Righteous, was born and raised in Parma, Ohio. Sekula was mostly identified as wearing an Ace Frehley mask, a welding mask, a troll-like monster mask and a Ghostface mask. He was replaced by Marko "Bronson" Vukcevich in 2001 after several issues with the band and its members... While attending Parma Senior High, John Sekula formed the band Terror with his brother Brian Sekula. John Sekula also played guitar for both State of Conviction and Unified Culture who are/were fronted by Mushroomhead vocalist Jason Popson.

Death

On October 28, 2010, Sekula suffered a massive heart failure and subsequently died. He was 41 years old.[ citation needed ]

Superbuick is the second studio album by American heavy metal band Mushroomhead. It was released independently in 1996. Most of the songs were later remastered on XX which was initially released through Eclipse Records, then through Universal Records after some slight modifications and two additional songs. This is their first album with Pig Benis on bass and the last with DJ Virus on samples/programming. Previous bassist Mr. Murdernickel has songwriting credits for a few tracks, as revealed when the songs were recorded and released again for XX.

There was a CD release party at their annual Halloween show on October 30. This was the final studio album with JJ Righteous and Dinner as members of the band. The album, alongside Mushroomhead and Superbuick, was reissued with alternate artwork in 2002. The songs "Before I Die", "Solitaire/Unraveling", "The New Cult King", "Xeroxed" and "Born of Desire" were later included on both the Eclipse Records and Universal Records versions of XX in 2001.

This is the only album to feature the original line-up, as member Mr. Murdernickel would leave the band after the album's release, although he has songwriting credits on a few tracks on the next album.
