John Edward South (born 8 April 1948) is an English retired professional footballer who made one appearance as a centre forward in the Football League for Brentford. In his subsequent career in non-League football, South spent nearly 10 years with Metropolitan Police.
South began his career in the youth system at Fulham, before moving to West London rivals Brentford in November 1966. [1] He made just two appearances before suffering a severe knee injury in training. [2] [3] In a period of financial uncertainty for the Griffin Park club, South was released as a cost-cutting measure at the end of the 1966–67 season. [2]
South dropped into non-League football to sign for Southern League Premier Division club Guildford City in 1967. [2] After suffering further injury woes, he joined Metropolitan Police and stayed with the club for nearly a decade. [2]
South's brother Ernie also played football and was a goalkeeper for the Brentford junior team. [2]

Francis Joseph was an English professional footballer who played as a forward for a large number of clubs in the Football League, including Wimbledon, Brentford, Reading, Sheffield United, Crewe Alexandra, Fulham, Barnet and Gillingham, between 1980 and 1992. He also spent time playing outside the United Kingdom, including spells with Honka, JYP 77 and HJK Helsinki in Finland, Racing Ghent in Belgium and Tampa Bay Rowdies in the United States. He eventually dropped into non-League football, playing for numerous clubs before becoming a coach at non-League level in 1995.
Nigel Paul Smith is an English former professional footballer who played as a central defender in the Football League for Brentford and Cambridge United.
John Brooks was an English professional footballer who played for Reading, Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea, Brentford, Crystal Palace in the Football League. Brooks won three England caps and scored two goals. Towards the end of his career he played in non-League football with Stevenage Town and Cambridge City and in North America with Cleveland Stokers. Charles Thomas George Brodie was a Scottish professional football goalkeeper who made 400 appearances in The Football League, most notably for Brentford, Aldershot and Northampton Town. His professional career came to an end in 1970, when he was seriously injured after a dog ran onto the field of play. The dog ran into Brodie's knee after he grabbed the ball, which the dog was chasing. Brodie suffered severe ligament damage.

Malcolm MacDonald was a Scottish professional footballer and manager, best remembered for his time as a utility player with Celtic and as a manager with Kilmarnock and Brentford. MacDonald managed the Scotland national team on a caretaker basis in 1966. He is a member of the Brentford Hall of Fame.
