The Johnson County Library (JCL), established in 1952, is the county library system for Johnson County, Kansas and includes 13 branches. [1] As of 2013, it had 1,092,294 items. It lent 6,690,893 items in 2013. It serves a population of 598,555. [2]

The Johnson County Library consists of the Central Resource branch and 13 neighborhood branches. [3]

Marketing

In June 2009, with the help of the Barkley Advertising Agency the Johnson County Library system implemented a unique marketing strategy. The courier trucks the library uses to transport materials from one branch to another have been designed to represent some of the iconic individuals from literature from the angle of a product advertisement. [4]

Shawnee Mission is a region of northern Johnson County, Kansas, part of the Kansas City metropolitan area in the United States. Since August 1, 1960, the United States Postal Service has used the name to denote a large postal coverage area at the northeastern tip of Johnson County. It contains numerous towns, and the name was created to structure management of the post offices located therein. Effectively, these towns' post offices are subsidiaries of the Shawnee Mission Main Post Office in Mission, Kansas. Properly, a mailing address may indicate the delivery "place" as either Shawnee Mission, or the actual town name, and be treated the same.

Shawnee Mission USD 512 is a public unified school district headquartered in Shawnee Mission, Kansas, United States. As of 2018, the district comprises five high schools, five middle schools, 34 elementary schools, and six instructional centers. In the 2022–2023 school year, district enrollment is approximately 26,500 students.

Shawnee Mission Parkway is a stretch of roadway in Johnson County, Kansas and Jackson County, Missouri. Its western terminus at K-7 in Shawnee, Kansas and its eastern terminus at Ward Parkway in Kansas City, Missouri. The roadway is signed as US 56 from Interstate 35 to its eastern terminus, with US-69 overlapping from I-35 to Metcalf Avenue, and US-169 overlapping from I-35 to Rainbow Boulevard.
