Johny ML (born 21 March 1969) is an Indian culture critic, art curator and writer based in New Delhi. [1] [2] [3] [4]

Biography

He has three post-graduate degrees from the Goldsmiths College, University of London, MS University, Baroda, and the University of Kerala. He has contributed as an Editor / Writer to several online and print magazines, including the Stance Magazine, [5] Art Tehelka, [6] Matters of Art, [7] Narada News Malayalam [8] and Cart on Art. [9] He was the chief curator of the first edition of United Art Fair, 2012. [10] [11] [12] [13] [14] He also has curated several shows. [15] [16] [17] [18] He started his own blog in the year 2008 and writes about culture, art, politics, society and people.

Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha, credited internationally as A Northern Story of Valor, is a subplot of Vadakkan Pattukal, a medieval ballad from North Malabar and is often regarded as a classic in Malayalam cinema. The film won four National Film Awards including Best Actor (Mammootty), Best Screenplay (Nair), Best Production Design and Best Costume Design and eight Kerala State Film Awards.

Karuvattu Mana Vasudevan Namboothiri, better known as Artist Namboothiri or simply Namboothiri, was an Indian painter and sculptor, known for his line art and copper relief works. He illustrated for many Malayalam writers such as Thakazhy Shivasankara Pillai, Kesavadev, M. T. Vasudevan Nair, Uroob, S. K. Pottekkatt, Edasseri Govindan Nair, and V.K.N., and was one of the most prolific literary illustrators of India. He was also a chairman of the Kerala Lalithakala Akademi. The Akademi awarded him the Raja Ravi Varma Award in 2003. He was also a recipient of the Kerala State Film Award for Best Art Director.

<i>Indulekha</i> (novel) 1889 novel by O. Chandu Menon

Indulekha is a Malayalam novel written by O. Chandu Menon. Published in 1889, it was the first major novel in the Malayalam language. It was a landmark in the history of Malayalam literature and initiated the novel as a new flourishing genre. The novel is about a beautiful, well-educated lady of a Nair tharavad.

Kochi Rajavu is a 2005 Indian Malayalam-language action film directed by Johny Antony and written by the Udayakrishna-Siby K. Thomas duo. It stars Dileep in the lead role with Kavya Madhavan, Rambha, Harisree Ashokan, Murali and Jagathy Sreekumar in supporting roles.

Francis "Faceboy" Hall is an American actor, producer, and activist working in the New York City arts community. Hall, the younger brother of poet and King Missile frontman John S. Hall, is one of the founding members of the Art Stars. <i>Narasimham</i> (film) 2000 Indian film

Narasimham is a 2000 Indian Malayalam-language action drama film directed by Shaji Kailas and written by Ranjith. Narasimham was released on 26 January 2000, India's 50th Republic Day, and ran for 200 days in theatres and grossed over 20 crores worldwide, which at time was a record in the Kerala Box Office. The film stars Mohanlal in the title role with Thilakan, Kanaka, N. F. Varghese, Aishwariyaa Bhaskaran and Jagathy Sreekumar in pivotal roles. Mammootty appears in a cameo role. The film was the first production of Aashirvad Cinemas, owned by Antony Perumbavoor, the former chauffeur of Mohanlal.

Himayatnagar is a neighbourhood in Hyderabad, Telangana, India. It is also a mandal in Hyderabad District. It was named after Mir Himayat Ali Khan, the 1st son of the last Nizam of Hyderabad.

Kavitha Balakrishnan is an art critic, poet, contemporary art researcher, painter and art curator. She started her teaching career as a lecturer of Art History at College of Fine Arts Trivandrum from 1998 to 1999. She later lectured at the R.L.V. College of Music and Fine Arts in Thrippunithura and as a visiting faculty at the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) in Mumbai. E. M. Ashraf is a Malayalam writer, film critic and Journalist. He is currently the director of Middle East, Kairali TV. He has written numerous books and articles in Malayalam language, most notably the biographies of veteran Malayalam writers Vaikom Muhammad Basheer and Sukumar Azhikode. His interview with late Indian painter M. F. Husain was published in Malayalam and later translated into Arabic and English.

Sabeena Rafi was an Indian essayist and historian of Malayalam literature. Her oeuvre consists of philosophical works, an autobiography and Chavittu Nadakam - Oru Charithra Padanam, the first historical compendium on Chavittu Nadakam, an operatic dance form. Her book, Kaliyugam, a philosophical work jointly written with her husband, Ponjikkara Rafi, fetched her the Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Miscellaneous Works in 1972.

Rajesh Chithira is an Indian poet, short story writer and novelist who writes in Malayalam language. Born in Pathanamthitta, in the south Indian state of Kerala, he has published anthologies containing poems and short stories such as Unmathathakalude Crash Landingukal, Tequila, Ulipechu and Jigsaw Puzzle and a children's novel, Aadi and Athma. He has received a number of awards which include Indian Ruminations Poetry Award, Bharat Murali Poetry Award, Galleria Award, Ezhuthola Award, Expatriate Book Trust Award, and Souhrudham Dot Com Award.

<span class="mw-page-title-main">M. Thomas Mathew</span> Indian writer

M. Thomas Mathew is an Indian literary critic, orator, translator and academic who writes in Malayalam language. He has written a number of books on literary criticism such as Dhanthagopurathilekku Veendum, Ente Valmeekamevide, Ashante Seethayanam and Athmavinte Murivukal and has translated works into Malayalam which includes New Humanism written by M. N. Roy. He is a recipient of several honours including Sahitya Akademi Award, Vayalar Award and Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Literary Criticism.
