The regiment is named for the city of historic region of Piceno and was part of the Italian Army's infantry arm, until it became a basic training unit and was redesignated as a "multi-arms unit".
The 7th CBRN Defense Regiment "Cremona" is the Italian Army's CBRN defense unit. Today the regiment is based in Civitavecchia in Lazio and assigned to the Artillery Command. The regiment was formed in 1860 by the Royal Sardinian Army and participated the same year in the Piedmontese invasion of Central and Southern Italy. In 1861 the regiment joined the Royal Italian Army and in 1866 it fought in the Third Italian War of Independence. During World War I the regiment served on the on the Italian front. In 1939 the regiment was assigned to the 44th Infantry Division "Cremona", which was deployed in Corsica when the Armistice of Cassibile was announced on 8 September 1943. The division immediately went on the offensive against German forces trying to retreat through the island. The division then joined the Italian Co-belligerent Army and was reorganized as Combat Group "Cremona". Equipped with British weapons and materiel the group was assigned to the British V Corps and fought in the Allied 1945 spring offensive.
The 33rd EW Regiment is an electronic warfare unit of the Italian Army based in Treviso. Originally a unit of the army's signal arm, the regiment is today a multi-arms unit assigned to the Tactical Intelligence Brigade, which combines elements of the artillery and signal arms. The unit was formed in 1975 as a battalion, which was tasked with tactical electronic warfare operations in northeastern Italy. The battalion was named for Falzarego Pass and assigned to the V Territorial Military Command. In 1979 the battalion was transferred to the 5th Army Corps. In 1998 the 8th Signals Intelligence Battalion "Tonale" and 9th Electronic Warfare Battalion "Rombo" were disbanded and part of the two battalions tasks and personnel were transferred to the 33rd Electronic Warfare Battalion "Falzarego". In 2002 the battalion lost its autonomy and entered the newly formed 33rd EW Regiment. The regimental anniversary falls, as for all signal units, on June 20, the height of the Second Battle of the Piave River in 1918.
The 232nd Signal Regiment is a deployable signals regiment of the Italian Army based in Avellino in Campania. The unit was formed in 1958 as a battalion and assigned to the Armored Division "Ariete". In 1975 the battalion was named for the Fadalto Pass and received the number 232nd, which had been used by the 232nd Connections Company that served with the 132nd Armored Division "Ariete" during the Western Desert Campaign of World War II. With the name and number the battalion also received its own flag. In 1991 the battalion was disbanded and in 2004 reformed as 232nd Signal Regiment, which initially consisted only of the Battalion "Legnano". In 2015 the regiment reformed the Battalion "Fadalto" as its second signal battalion. The regiment is assigned to the army's Signal Command and affiliated with the Division "Acqui". The regimental anniversary falls, as for all signal units, on June 20, the height of the Second Battle of the Piave River in 1918.
The 3rd Signal Regiment is a national support signals regiment of the Italian Army headquartered in Rome in Lazio. The regiment is the army's oldest signals regiment and assigned to the army's Signal Command. The regiment's three battalions operate and maintain the army's signal network in central Italy and Sardinia. The regiment was formed in 1883 as an engineer regiment, which in 1895 became responsible for training the army's telegraph personnel and providing telegraph units to operational units. In 1912 the regiment added the training of radio personnel to its duties. During World War I the regiment formed a total of 127 companies, 59 of which were transferred in 1918 to the newly formed 7th Signal Regiment (Telegraphers). In 1920 the regiment was disbanded and its companies formed into battalions, which were assigned the army's army corps commands.

The 1st NBC Battalion "Etruria" is an inactive unit of the Italian Army last based in Rieti. Throughout the Cold War the battalion was the army's only NBC defense unit. Formed in 1976 the battalion received the flag and traditions of the Chemical Regiment, which had been formed in 1936 and served in World War II.
