Johanna Catharina "Joke" de Korte (born 18 August 1935) is a retired Dutch backstroke and freestyle swimmer. She finished fourth in 100m backstroke at the 1952 Summer Olympics, [1] and won two silver medals at the 1954 European Aquatics Championships. [2]
Markus Antonius Rogan is a retired Austrian swimmer, who won two silver medals at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece and a gold medal for 200 m backstroke at the 2008 World Short Course Championships in Manchester. He also was the world record holder in 200 metres backstroke in that year.
Antje Buschschulte is a former German swimmer. Her best disciplines were the short distance backstroke and freestyle races. Buschschulte swam for the sporting club SC Magdeburg. She participated in Olympic Games 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008 and won 5 olympic bronze medals. She was World Champion in 100m backstroke 2003 in Barcelona. In total Antje won 57 international medals. She is the only German swimmer who participated for 14 years in a row (1995–2008) in every major longcourse championship.

Roland Matthes was a German swimmer and the most successful backstroke swimmer of all time. Between April 1967 and August 1974 he won all backstroke competitions he entered. Blaž Medvešek is a former backstroke swimmer from Slovenia, who competed for his native country of Slovenia at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece as well as at 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia. The European Junior Swimming Championships is an annual swimming competition for European swimmers organized by the Ligue Européenne de Natation and held over five days. The competitor age for females was 15 to 16 years; for males it is 17 to 18 years until 2015. From 2016 the competitor age is for females 14 to 17 years and for males 15 to 18 years.

He was the first swimmer in his country to swim the 100 m backstroke under 55 seconds and 200 m backstroke under 2 minutes at the long course.

Margherita Panziera is an Italian swimmer. She competed at the 2020 Summer Olympics, in 100 m backstroke and 200 m backstroke. She is also a three-time European Champion in the 200 metre backstroke, winning in 2018, 2021, and 2022.
