Jonna Fitzgerald is an American beauty pageant titleholder and musical entertainer. She was crowned Miss Texas 1985 [1] then Preliminary Talent Winner [2] and 2nd Runner Up to Miss America 1986. [3] In computer modelling that successfully predicted that Susan Akin would be named Miss America, Fitzgerald's odds were set at 22 to 1. [4]

Fitzgerald was a featured entertainer for the 1985 Vice-Presidential Inaugural Ball in Washington, D.C., with Johnnie High's Country Music Revue. Through the years she has shared the stage with artists such as Janie Fricke, Jerry Clower, Frenchie Burke, Mason Dixon, Larry Gatlin, Shoji Tabuchi, Johnnie Gimble, and Charlie Daniels. The country music Revue Association named her “Instrumentalist of the Year” in 1989.[ citation needed ]

In 1999, Fitzgerald became a news anchor at KETK-TV in Tyler, Texas. She worked as an anchor and community relations director until 2005, when she was named district director for incoming congressman Louie Gohmert's district office. [5]

The Miss America 2019 pageant/competition was the 92nd Miss America pageant, though the Miss America Organization celebrated its 98th anniversary in 2018. This discrepancy is due to national pageants not being held from 1928–1932 or in 1934 because of financial problems associated with the Great Depression. The 2019 competition was held in Atlantic City, New Jersey. On May 23, 2018, it was announced that the pageant would air live on ABC on Sunday, September 9, 2018. This was the last Miss America to be aired on ABC before would be moving to NBC beginning from 2020 pageant.
