Joonas Vaino (born 22 April 1992) is an Estonian professional basketball player. He is currently playing for Finnish club Namika Lahti at the power forward position. [1]
Joonas Vaino came through youth ranks to play first-tier basketball for BC Rakvere Tarvas and made his debut in KML when he was 16 years old. In his first year, he spent most of the time on the bench, because his season was marred with injuries. The following season he joined Korisliiga team LrNMKY though, where he stayed for a season. He rejoined the hometown team which had reached the finals during his Finnish year, and played there for two seasons. Since 2012, he has been playing with Namika Lahti. [2]
Vaino has been a member of many youth national teams with his native Estonia. With U20 team, they managed to get promotion to the FIBA Europe Under-20 Championship A division, defeating Belgium U20 on their way to the final, but lost to Georgian team. [3]
Joonas Einari Kolkka is a Finnish retired professional footballer who played as a left winger most of his career, but could also play on the right wing. Having started his career in his native Finland, he went on to play for several clubs in the Netherlands, Greece, Germany, England, and the USA.
The Korisliiga is the top-tier professional basketball league in Finland, comprising the top 12 teams of the country. In its current format, each team plays all other teams two times in the regular season, once at home and once away, for a total of 22 regular season games. Rait Keerles is a retired Estonian professional basketball player. Keerles started his professional career in 1997, when he signed with BC Kalev. He has also played for Canon ENM and BC Tallinna Kalev before signing with BC Kalev/Cramo. With the team he won four Estonian Cups and four Estonian Championship gold medals. From 2009–2011 Keerles was the captain of the team. In July 2011, Keerles signed with Gloria Giants Düsseldorf of the German 2. Bundesliga. After the season Keerles decided to return to his former club BC Kalev/Cramo. For the 2013–14 season he signed with Rakvere Tarvas but left the team with mutual consent to play for CS Energia Rovinari in Romania. For the 2014–15 season he returned to Estonia to play his last professional season for TYCO Rapla. He has also been a member of the Estonia national basketball team in 2002–03 and 2008–09 seasons.
