Jose O. Arango (born October 11,1957) is an American Republican Party politician who represented the 33rd Legislative District in the New Jersey General Assembly from 1984 to 1986. He has served as the chair of the Hudson County Republican Organization.
Arango is employed by Jersey City as the director of economic development. [1] [2]
Born in Havana,Cuba,Arango grew up in Spain and emigrated to the United States and settled in West New York,New Jersey,where he graduated from Memorial High School. [3]
Riding Governor of New Jersey Thomas Kean's wave of success in the 1985 elections,Republicans Arango of West New York and Ronald Dario of Union City defeated Democratic incumbent Robert Ranieri and newcomer Mario R. Hernandez,and were two of the four Republicans to take office in the Assembly from the usually solidly Democratic Hudson County. [4] [5] Running for re-election in 1987,Arango and newcomer Angelo M. Valente of Hoboken were defeated by Democrats Bernard Kenny and Bob Menendez. [1] [6]
