Political career

Congressman

He ran for Bukidnon's 1st congressional district, running against his brother-in-law Nereus Acosta. He ran with the local Bukidnon Paglaum Party. [1] During his tenure, he created, along with five other representatives, the Climate Accountability Act or House Bill 9609 on November 22, 2023. [2] Another bill Alba created was the House Bill 9935, declaring a state of disaster allowing resources to endure proactive measures during a disaster. [3]

Bukidnon's 1st congressional district is one of the four congressional districts of the Philippines in the province of Bukidnon. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district encompasses the entire northern frontier of Bukidnon bordering Cagayan de Oro and Misamis Oriental. It consists of the municipalities of Baungon, Libona, Malitbog, Manolo Fortich, Sumilao and Talakag. Prior to redistricting in 2012, the district stretched further south to include the municipalities of Kalilangan and Pangantucan. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Jose Manuel F. Alba of the Bukidnon Paglaum Party (BPP) and Lakas–CMD.

Davao de Oro State College is a state college in Davao de Oro, Philippines. It was established in 2013 as Compostela Valley State College through Republic Act No. 10598, with its Main Campus in Compostela and integrating therewith the External Studies Units of Bukidnon State University in the province, namely, Monkayo, Maragusan, Montevista, and New Bataan. It was renamed to its present name in 2021 through Republic Act No. 11575, shortly after the renaming of the province.
