The 19th Congress of the Philippines (Filipino : Ikalabinsiyam na Kongreso ng Pilipinas), composed of the Philippine Senate and House of Representatives, convened on July 25, 2022. The 19th Congress is meeting during the first three years of Bongbong Marcos's presidency, and will end on June 6, 2025. The convening of the 19th Congress followed the 2022 general elections, which replaced half of the Senate membership and the entire membership of the House of Representatives.

Contents

The House of Representatives continues to meet in the Batasang Pambansa Complex. The Senate currently meets in the GSIS Building, with a scheduled move to its new building in Taguig following the sine die adjournment in 2025. [1] The 19th Congress is also the first since the 10th Congress that no senator is from the Liberal Party.

Maria Gloria Macaraeg Macapagal-Arroyo, often referred to as PGMA or GMA, is a Filipino academic and politician who served as the 14th president of the Philippines from 2001 to 2010. Former Manila Mayor Isko Moreno currently acts as president of the party.

Ferdinand Martin Gomez Romualdez is a Filipino businessman, lawyer and politician serving as the Speaker of the House of Representatives since July 25, 2022. He is also serving as the representative for the 1st district of Leyte since 2019 and previously from 2007 to 2016 and as the president of the Philippine Constitution Association. He formerly served as the House Majority Leader from 2019 to 2022, and unsuccessfully ran for senator in the 2016 elections. He is a first cousin of President Bongbong Marcos. Arnolfo "Arnie" Alipit Teves Jr. is a Filipino politician and businessman. A member of the Nationalist People's Coalition, he last served as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives representing the 3rd District of Negros Oriental from 2016 to his expulsion in 2023. He also served as a deputy speaker of the Philippine House of Representatives from 2020 to 2022.

A special election would have been held in Negros Oriental's 3rd congressional district on December 9, 2023, to fill the district's vacant seat in the House of Representatives of the Philippines for the remainder of the 19th Congress.

The 2025 Philippine Senate election will be the 35th election of members to the Senate of the Philippines. It will be held on May 12, 2025, within the 2025 Philippine general election. The seats of the 12 senators elected in 2019 will be contested in this election. The senators that will be elected in this election will serve until 2031, joining the winners of the 2022 election to form the Senate's delegation to the 20th Congress of the Philippines, with the senators elected in 2022 serving until 2028.

Local elections are scheduled to be held in Marikina on May 12, 2025, as part of the 2025 Philippine general election. The electorate will elect a mayor, a vice mayor, sixteen members of the Marikina City Council, and two district representatives to the House of Representatives of the Philippines. The officials elected will assume their respective offices on June 30, 2025, for a three-year-long term.

The 2025 Philippine general election will be held on May 12, 2025. During this midterm election, which will take place during the term of President Bongbong Marcos, all 318 seats in the House of Representatives and 12 of the 24 seats in the Senate will be contested to form the 20th Congress of the Philippines. Local elections will also be held for the executive and legislative branches in every province, city, and municipality in the country. The first regular election to the Bangsamoro Parliament will be held within the general election after it was postponed in 2022.
