Paul Ruiz Daza is a Filipino politician who served as Governor of Northern Samar and member of Philippine House of Representatives for Northern Samar's 1st congressional district under the National Unity Party. He originally ran under the Liberal Party in the 2019 elections, winning against the Nacionalista Party, after the win, the opposition Harlin Abayon filed an electoral protest against the win, which was unsuccessful. [1] On December 29, 2020, Former president Rodrigo Duterte accused Daza of corruption although without evidence. Daza rejected the allegations. [2] He is the son of Raul Daza. [3]

Daza is a Filipino lawyer, certified public accountant, and politician, who served in the House of Representatives of the Philippines for 20 years as Representative of the 1st District of Northern Samar. Although he could still seek another term under the term-limit provisions of the Constitution, at 86 he chose not to stand for re-election in the 2019 national elections. He was also a three-term governor of the same province from 2001 to 2010; the Representative of the Lone District of Northern Samar from 1969 until the declaration of martial law in 1972.

Northern Samar's 1st congressional district is a congressional district in the province of Northern Samar, Philippines. It has been represented in the House of Representatives since 1987. The district covers the province's western half which contains its capital, Catarman, the adjacent municipalities of Allen, Bobon, Lavezares, Lope de Vega, Mondragon, Rosario, San Isidro, San Jose and Victoria, and the San Bernardino Strait island municipalities of Biri, Capul, San Antonio and San Vicente. It is currently represented in the 19th Congress by Paul R. Daza of the National Unity Party (NUP).

Local elections were held in the province of Isabela on May 9, 2022, as part of the 2022 Philippine general election.
