Joseph Duffell was an Australian politician who was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council for the Metropolitan-Suburban Province from 22 May 1914 to 21 May 1926. He was a member of the Liberal Party up until 1917,when he became a member of the National Party. [1] [2]
He was born in England c. 1862 to John,a saddler and moulder,and Eliza. He married Mary Jane Tandy (c. 1863 –6 January 1919) on 25 December 1883 at the North Harborne Parish Church in England. They had two sons and one daughter. [1] [2]
The Duffells arrived in Western Australia in 1905,where he founded a firm of cork importers and vinegar manufacturers. [1]
In November 1906,Duffell was elected to the Subiaco Municipal Council. [3] He was sworn in on 4 December 1906. [4] In November 1912,he was elected as mayor of Subiaco, [5] serving in that role until 1915. [1]
At the 1914 Western Australian Legislative Council election,Duffell was elected to the Metropolitan-Suburban Province. His term started on 22 May 1914. At first,he was part of the Liberal Party,but he became part of the National Party in 1917 when the Liberal Party merged into it. At the 1926 Western Australian Legislative Council election,Duffell was voted out. [1] [2]
Duffell died on 28 February 1936 at St John of God Subiaco Hospital. He was buried in Karrakatta Cemetery. [1] [2]
Henry Daglish was an Australian politician who was the sixth premier of Western Australia and the first from the Australian Labor Party,serving from 10 August 1904 to 25 August 1905. He held the seat of Subiaco in the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 24 April 1901 to 3 October 1911. John Wallace Shannon was an Australian politician. Born in Angaston,South Australia,where he was educated,he became a farmer on the Yorke Peninsula and an auctioneer. He served on Maitland Council,of which he was mayor. In 1896,he was elected to the South Australian House of Assembly for Yorke Peninsula,transferring to Wallaroo in 1902. He left the Assembly in 1905. In 1912,he was appointed to the Australian Senate as a Liberal Senator for South Australia,filling the casual vacancy caused by the death of Labor Senator William Russell. This was the first time a state government had successfully replaced a Senator with a Senator of a different party,after Labor's failed attempt in 1907 to appoint James O'Loghlin to succeed Joseph Vardon. Defeated in 1913,he was elected in 1914 due to the death of Labor Senator Gregor McGregor,which left the Labor Party with only five nominees. They directed the sixth vote to Shannon,resulting in an easy return to the Senate. He joined the Nationalist Party when it formed in 1917,and from 1917 to 1920 served as Chairman of Committees. Shannon did not stand at the 1919 federal election,and his term ended on 30 June 1920. He died in 1926.
Hubert Stanley Wyborn Parker DSO VD was an Australian politician who represented the Western Australian Legislative Assembly seat of North-East Fremantle from 1930 until 1933,and one of the three Legislative Council seats for Metropolitan-Suburban Province from 1934 until 1954. He was a member of the Nationalist Party until 1945,when the party merged into the Liberal Party. He was also a qualified solicitor and distinguished military officer who served at Gallipoli and in France during World War I.

Harold Millington was an Australian politician. He was a Labor Party member of the Parliament of Western Australia;as a member of the Legislative Council for North-East Province for six years from 1914,and as a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1924 to 1947,representing the electorates of Leederville (1924–1930) and Mount Hawthorn (1930–1947). Sir James Daniel Connolly was an Australian politician who served in both houses of the Parliament of Western Australia. He was a member of the Legislative Council from 1901 to 1914 and a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1914 to 1917,and served as a minister in the governments of Newton Moore and Frank Wilson. Connolly spent much of his later life in the United Kingdom,where he served as agent-general for Western Australia and Malta.

Zebina Bartholomew Lane was an Australian mining engineer and politician who was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council for the Metropolitan-Suburban Province from 11 September 1903 to 21 May 1908. He was also mayor of the Municipal District of Broken Hill in New South Wales from 11 February 1889 to 12 February 1890,and was the manager of several mines across New South Wales,Victoria and Western Australia.
