She ran in the Democratic primary for governor of Virginia in the 2021 election,losing to former governor Terry McAuliffe.

Rev. Delores L. McQuinn is an American politician of the Democratic Party. On January 6,2009 she was elected to the Virginia House of Delegates,representing the 70th district,made up of parts of Chesterfield and Henrico Counties and the city of Richmond. She was previously a member of the Richmond City Council.

Aird served on the General Laws,Health,Welfare and Institutions,and Appropriations committees.

While Republicans maintained an enormous edge against Democrats in the chamber,their net loss of one seat cost them their previously-held veto-proof majority against Governor Terry McAuliffe.

The 2023 Virginia Senate election is scheduled to be held on Tuesday,November 7,2023,concurrently with elections for the Virginia House of Delegates,to elect senators to all 40 seats in the Senate of Virginia for the 163rd and 164th Virginia Assembly. Nomination primaries held through the Department of Elections are to be held June 20,2023. These will be the first elections held following redistricting as a result of the 2020 census.
The 2023 Virginia's 4th congressional district special election was a special election to the U.S. House of Representatives that was held to fill Virginia's 4th congressional district for the remainder of the 118th United States Congress. The seat became vacant after incumbent Democrat Donald McEachin died on November 28,2022,of colorectal cancer. State Senator Jennifer McClellan was declared the victor shortly after the polls closed,winning in a landslide against her Republican opponent.
