Dr. Joseph Katema (20 November 1961) is a Zambian politician serving as the Minister of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs since January 2015. [1] He previously served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services.
Zambia,officially the Republic of Zambia,is a landlocked country at the crossroads of Central,Southern and East Africa,and is typically referred to as being in Southern Africa at its most central point. Its neighbours are the Democratic Republic of the Congo to the north,Tanzania to the northeast,Malawi to the east,Mozambique to the southeast,Zimbabwe and Botswana to the south,Namibia to the southwest,and Angola to the west. The capital city is Lusaka,located in the south-central part. The population of around 20.1 million (2023) is concentrated mainly around Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt Province to the north,the core economic hubs of the country.
The politics of Zambia takes place in a framework of a presidential representative democratic republic,whereby the president of Zambia is head of state,head of government and leader of a multi-party system. Executive power is exercised by the government,while legislative power is vested in both the government and parliament. Formerly Northern Rhodesia,Zambia became a republic immediately upon attaining independence in October 1964.
After independence in 1964 the foreign relations of Zambia were mostly focused on supporting liberation movements in other countries in Southern Africa,such as the African National Congress and SWAPO. During the Cold War Zambia was a member of the Non-Aligned Movement.
The national flag of Zambia was adopted upon independence on 24 October 1964,by the first Republican President Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda. Before that,Zambia was the British protectorate of Northern Rhodesia and used a defaced Blue Ensign as its flag.
Christianity is the state religion in Zambia according to the 1996 constitution,and the vast majority of Zambians (95.5%) are Christians of various denominations,but many other religious traditions are present. Traditional religious thought blends easily with Christian beliefs in many of the country's syncretic churches. Other religions include the BaháʼíFaith,Islam,Hinduism,Sikhism,and Judaism. Ismaili Muslim,Hindu and Sikh communities exist owing to the Indian and Pakistani diasporic community.
Albert Kawana is a Namibian politician. A member of SWAPO,Kawana has been a member of the National Assembly and cabinet since 2000,serving in various positions. Since April 2021 he is minister of Home Affairs,Immigration,Safety and Security. A lawyer by training,Kawana led Namibia's legal team in the Kasikili Island dispute,which was argued before the International Court of Justice.
Given Lubinda is a Zambian politician who served in the Cabinet of Zambia as Minister of Justice. He is a former Member of Parliament for the National Assembly of Zambia for Kabwata Constituency in Lusaka. He was first elected as Kabwata MP in 2001 under the UPND ticket and was Minister of Foreign Affairs from 2012 to 2013. Following the retirement of Edgar Lungu from active politics,Given Lubinda is the current acting president of the former ruling party,the Patriotic Front as of 2021. Lubinda is of mixed-race parentage. He is known as an outspoken politician.
Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah is a Namibian politician who is the Deputy Prime Minister of Namibia since March 2015. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwa,the current SWAPO vice president,has retained her position,and she is set to become the party's first female presidential candidate in November 2024. She has also been serving as Namibia's Minister of International Relations and Cooperation since December 2012. From March 2010 to December 2012,she was Minister of Environment and Tourism. Nandi-Ndaitwah is a member of SWAPO,Namibia's ruling party,and a long-time member of the National Assembly. In 2017,Nandi-Ndaitwah was elected vice-president of the Swapo Party at the party's 6th Congress. She is the first woman to serve in that position.

Edgar Chagwa Lungu is a Zambian politician who served as the sixth president of Zambia from 25 January 2015 to 24 August 2021. Under President Michael Sata,Lungu served as Minister of Justice and Minister of Defence. Following Sata's death in October 2014,Lungu was adopted as the candidate of the Patriotic Front in a Convention of the Patriotic Front in Kabwe,for the January 2015 presidential by-election,which was to determine who would serve out the remainder of Sata's term. In the election,he narrowly defeated opposition candidate Hakainde Hichilema and took office on 25 January 2015.

Emmanuel Tawanda Chenda is a Zambian politician and diplomat. He served as Member of the National Assembly for Bwana Mkubwa between 2011 and 2016. He also held the posts of Minister of Agriculture and Livestock,Minister of Commerce,Trade and Industry and Minister of Local Government and Housing between 2011 and 2015. In November 2017 he was appointed Ambassador to neighbouring Zimbabwe.
