Joshua MacDonald (born 20 January 1997) is a speedway rider from Australia. [1] [2]

Speedway career

MacDonald joined the Sheffield Tigers and for his first season in British speedway, riding in the SGB Championship 2019. [3] He guested during the same season for the King's Lynn Stars in the highest division of UK speedway. [4] In 2021, he was due to ride for Poole Pirates but switched to Scunthorpe Scorpions instead. [5]

In 2022, MacDonald signed for the Oxford Cheetahs for the 2022 season. The Cheetahs were returning to action after a 14-year absence from British Speedway. [6] [7]

Thomas Jørgensen, is a Danish speedway rider. Thomas first came to notice in the UK in July 2010 whilst a member of the Team Viking touring side. In a meeting against Plymouth he smashed the track record and became the first rider to go below 50 seconds. Following a string of impressive performances on that tour Thomas attracted the attention of several Premier League clubs, eventually signing a contract with Scunthorpe Scorpions for the 2011 season. Thomas returned to the UK late in 2010 for a one off meeting at Scunthorpe where he became winner of the inaugural Rob Woffinden memorial trophy.

The SGB Championship 2019 is the second division of Great British speedway. The season runs between March and October 2019 and consisted of 12 participating teams. The current league champions are the Workington Comets who completed an excellent 2018 season winning three major trophies. Four new teams joined the SGB Championship in 2019 with two of them dropping down from the 2018 SGB Premiership league season these teams were Leicester Lions and Somerset Rebels with Ipswich Witches and Peterborough Panthers moving in the opposite direction. Two teams from the third tier of British speedway the National League Birmingham Brummies and Eastbourne Eagles moved up into this season's league while the Lakeside Hammers did not compete.
