Julia Alfrida Ridderdal (born 25 June 1995) is a Swedish singer and songwriter.

Career

In 2018, Alfrida released her debut single titled "Sweet Escape". [2] In 2019, Alfrida released a single, "HER", leading her to perform at the Stockholm Pride and Copenhagen Pride. [3] [4]

In 2020, Alfrida participated in the competition P4 Nästa with the song "Dark Doom", placing sixth. [5] Despite not winning, Alfrida was given a wildcard to participate in the music competition Melodifestivalen 2021. [6] She participated with the song "Rich", co-written by her, along with Jimmy Jansson and Melanie Wehbe. [1] However, the song failed to qualify from the semi-finals.

Influences

Alfrida's influences include Lady Gaga, Tove Lo, Billie Eilish and Charli XCX. [7]

Personal life

Alfrida identifies herself as queer, non-binary, [8] and a lesbian, stating that Eurovision Song Contest and Melodifestivalen are as a "part of coming out journey". [7]

Måns Petter Albert Sahlén Zelmerlöw is a Swedish singer and television presenter. Denmark originally planned to participate in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 with the song "Yes" written by Emil Lei, Jimmy Jansson and Linnea Deb. The song was performed by the duo Ben and Tan. The Danish broadcaster DR organised the national final Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2020 in order to select the Danish entry for the 2020 contest in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The national selection consisted of a radio semi-final and a televised final. In the final, the winner was selected over two rounds of voting. The results of the first round were decided upon through the combination of jury voting and public voting while in the second round, the winner was selected solely by public televoting. "Yes" performed by Ben and Tan was the winner after gaining 61% of the public vote.

The winner of the competition was The Mamas with the song "Move", who would have represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Mamas were the first band to win since 2007 and the first female act to win since 2014; this is the fourth time in the history of Melodifestivalen that Sweden was unable to send a song to the Eurovision Song Contest, as the contest itself was cancelled on 18 March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
