The July 2009 Mid-Atlantic tornadoes were a series of five tornadoes, two of which attained EF2 status, that touched down within one hour and thirty minutes in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States.

Two tornadoes touched down in Pennsylvania, one in Monroe County and one in Wyoming County. [2] The first tornado was an EF2 in Monroe County that touched down around 1:30 pm EDT and tracked for 5 miles (8.0 km). Five homes lost their roofs and several barns were destroyed along the tornado's path. Numerous power lines were also downed, resulting in several road closures. [3] This tornado was one of 12 tornadoes to touch down in the county since 1950. In Cherry Valley, 25 power poles were downed, resulting in extensive internet and power outages. [4] In Franklin County, a downburst caused structural damage. [5]
In New Jersey, one EF2 tornado was confirmed in Sussex County. [6] The tornado tracked for roughly 7 miles (11 km) before dissipating. Along its track, thousands of trees were uprooted and snapped, numerous segments of guardrail were destroyed, acres of farmland were lost and several structures were damaged. The tornado, peaking with winds up to 120 miles per hour (190 km/h) touched down around 2:45 pm EDT and traveled for 15 minutes. The worst damage was along a 2 miles (3.2 km) stretch of the track [7] in Wantage where a state of emergency was declared; [8] in this area, hundreds of trees were tossed in multiple directions, a corn field was decimated by the tornado's winds and damaged a dairy farm. [7] One 70 feet (21 m) tall silo, made of 40 tons of concrete and steel, was destroyed by the tornado. Two of the barns on the dairy farm were destroyed and two others were severely damaged. A large portion of one of the barns roof was torn off, and was tossed roughly .75 miles (1.21 km) before landing in the yard of another home. Another barn was pick up and twisted around despite being secured by 18 poles anchored 4 feet in the ground. [9]
There were also 100 cows on the farm at the time of the tornado, of which one was reported missing. Residents who saw the tornado reported that two of the cows were picked up and tossed 50 feet (15 m) by the tornado. On the dairy farm property alone, roughly 600 trees were uprooted. [9] Severe storms in the region also produced damaging wind gusts up to 70 miles per hour (110 km/h). Torrential rainfall also fell within these storms, triggering widespread flash flooding. Numerous power lines were downed and a 100 feet (30 m) radio tower collapsed due to the winds. [8] The tornado was one of 145 to touch down in the state since 1950 and the first to hit Wantage in 29 years. [10] Throughout the state, roughly 25,000 residences were left without power due to the storms. [11]
In Unionville, New York, near the New York-New Jersey state line, [12] a brief EF0 tornado touched down around 3:05 pm EDT. [6] Dozens of trees were damaged and several more were uprooted. The most severe damage took place along County Highway 36. [12]
Around 2:46 pm EDT, an EF1 tornado touched down near Oldtown, Maryland in Allegany County. [6] Several roads were closed due to downed trees and power lines, including route 51. Several homes were also damaged by the tornado. [13] The path of the tornado was estimated to be 5 miles (8.0 km) long. [5] A total of 810 residences were also left without power after the storm. The 2006 Westchester County tornado was the strongest and largest tornado in Westchester County, New York since the 1904 Chappaqua tornado. It touched down there on Wednesday, July 12, 2006, and traveled 13 miles (21 km) into southwestern Connecticut during a 33-minute span through two states. The tornado touched down at 3:30 p.m. EDT (19:30 UTC) on the shore of the Hudson River before becoming a waterspout and traveling 3 mi (5 km) across the river. Coming ashore, the tornado entered Westchester County and struck the town of Sleepy Hollow at F1 intensity. After passing through the town, it intensified into an F2 tornado and grew to almost a one-quarter mile (400 m) in diameter. The tornado continued through the county, damaging numerous structures, until it crossed into Connecticut at 4:01 p.m. EDT (20:01 UTC). Not long after entering the state, it dissipated in the town of Greenwich at 4:03 p.m. EDT (20:03 UTC). When the tornado entered Westchester County, it was the eighth known tornado to either touch down or enter the county since 1950.

The 2010 Bronx tornado was a rare EF1 tornado which struck the Bronx in New York City, United States, touching down there on July 25, 2010, and traveled 1 mi (1.6 km). The tornado, which was the second ever tornado recorded in the Bronx, touched down around 2:55 p.m. EDT in Riverdale, located within the Bronx, causing damage to buildings, trees, cars, and power lines. Seven people were injured along its track due to broken glass. The tornado lifted around 3:00 p.m. EDT while still within the Riverdale neighborhood.
The 2011 Super Outbreak was the largest, costliest, and one of the deadliest tornado outbreaks ever recorded, taking place in the Southern, Midwestern, and Northeastern United States from April 25 to 28, 2011, leaving catastrophic destruction in its wake. Over 175 tornadoes struck Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee, which were the most severely damaged states. Other destructive tornadoes occurred in Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, New York, and Virginia, with storms also affecting other states in the Southern and Eastern United States. In total, 360 tornadoes were confirmed by NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) and Government of Canada's Environment Canada in 21 states from Texas to New York to southern Canada. Widespread and destructive tornadoes occurred on each day of the outbreak. April 27 was the most active day, with a record 216 tornadoes touching down that day from midnight to midnight CDT. Four of the tornadoes were rated EF5, which is the highest ranking on the Enhanced Fujita scale; typically these tornadoes are recorded no more than once a year.
On Sunday, February 10, 2013, a large EF4 multiple-vortex wedge tornado devastated the cities of West Hattiesburg, Hattiesburg, and Petal, Mississippi. The tornado was one of eight that touched down in southern Mississippi and southwestern Alabama that day. It reached a maximum path width of 0.75 miles (1.21 km) in its path through the Hattiesburg area and reached estimated maximum sustained winds of 170 mph (270 km/h) in Oak Grove neighborhood of West Hattiesburg. It destroyed many structures and impacted University of Southern Mississippi and two high schools. Mississippi was declared a federal disaster area by President Barack Obama, and a state of emergency was issued by Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant.

A widespread and deadly tornado outbreak affected the Southeastern United States on Easter Sunday and Monday, April 12–13, 2020. Several tornadoes were responsible for prompting tornado emergencies, including the first one to be issued by the National Weather Service in Charleston, South Carolina. A large squall line formed and tracked through the mid-Atlantic on April 13, prompting more tornado warnings and watches. A total of 15 watches were produced during the course of the event, two of which were designated Particularly Dangerous Situations.

A significant tornado outbreak sequence took place from March 24–28, 2021 in the Southern United States, just one week after another outbreak affected similar regions. There were 43 tornadoes confirmed across 11 states, with the bulk of activity primarily on March 25, which resulted in the Storm Prediction Center (SPC) issuing its second high-risk outlook for the month of March, as well as the second high-risk outlook for 2021. Several intense tornadoes touched down on that day, including ones that prompted the issuance of rare tornado emergencies near Hoover, Alabama, Brent and Centreville, Alabama, and in the Newnan, Georgia area. March 27 also saw widespread tornado activity mainly across East Texas, Southern Arkansas, Louisiana, and Western Tennessee with several strong tornadoes touching down. Scattered to widespread wind and hail damage occurred throughout the outbreak sequence, and repeated rounds of heavy rain caused widespread severe flash and river flooding across much of Tennessee.
A deadly late-season tornado outbreak, the deadliest on record in December, produced catastrophic damage and numerous fatalities across portions of the Southern United States and Ohio Valley from the evening of December 10 to the early morning of December 11, 2021. The event developed as a trough progressed eastward across the United States, interacting with an unseasonably moist and unstable environment across the Mississippi Valley. Tornado activity began in northeastern Arkansas, before progressing into Missouri, Illinois, Tennessee, and Kentucky.

The 2011 Chickasha-Blanchard tornado was a large and extremely violent EF4 tornado that impacted the southern side of Chickasha, Oklahoma and rural areas around Blanchard and Newcastle, Oklahoma in the late afternoon of May 24, 2011. The tornado killed one person and injured 48 others as the tornado traveled a path length of 33.3 miles with a peak path width of 880 yards. This powerful tornado was part of the Tornado outbreak sequence of May 21–26, 2011 and was one of the strongest tornadoes in the sequence and was tied for the second strongest tornado of the May 24 outbreak, behind the El Reno–Piedmont tornado.
