Juno Common School District No. 4 was a school district formerly based in Juno, Texas.
It was a one room schoolhouse. [1]
A building with segregated schools for black students and white students - with 29 and 88 students, respectively, was active in the town in 1901. The school for black students was on a part time basis. [2]
In 1964 the student enrollment was 18. [3]
Circa 1976 the student body was typically around 7-13. By 1976 it was the only common school district remaining in Val Verde County. At the time some students took school buses and some students used other means of transportation if they came from isolated areas. [4]
In 1980 there were a total of four students. The sole teacher used the World Book Encyclopedia in her instruction. [1]
It operated until 1992, when it had an enrollment of eight, with two of the pupils being the children of the teacher. That year it consolidated into the Comstock Independent School District. Both Juno CSD and Comstock ISD asked for a consolidation, which all four members of the Val Verde County Commissioner's Court granted. [5]

In 1936, Val Verde County received Recorded Texas Historic Landmark number 5625 to commemorate its founding. Val Verde, which means "green valley", was named for a battle of the American Civil War. In 1862, soldiers of Sibley's Brigade took part in the Texas invasion of New Mexico Territory, where they captured several artillery pieces at the Battle of Val Verde. The battle is memorialized both in the name of the county and a small settlement in Milam County. The Del Rio, Texas, micropolitan statistical area includes all of Val Verde County.

David Abner Jr. was president of Guadalupe College from 1891 to 1906, a 15-year tenure during which the college flourished and gained statewide recognition. At its height during his administration, the college had an enrollment of approximately 500 students.
The Del Rio News-Herald was a newspaper published in Del Rio, Texas, covering Val Verde County. The publication's origins date back to 1884, but the paper took on its current name after a consolidation of two separate titles in 1929. It was owned by Southern Newspapers Inc. and published Tuesday through Friday afternoons and on Sunday morning. Its final issue was published on November 18, 2020. At the time, the newspaper had a daily circulation of 10,400 and a Sunday circulation of 13,500 newspapers.
Paula Losoya Taylor was one of the founders of San Felipe Del Rio in Texas. Her hacienda in Del Rio became a major employer in the region, and an important gathering spot for worship, discussion, and more. Taylor donated land to create a Catholic cemetery, a fort, and schools in Del Rio.
