Justin Chu Cary is an American actor who stars on Netflix's Black Summer . [3] The series is a prequel to Z Nation . [4]
Justin Chu Cary grew up in Oakland, California, the son of an African-American father and a Chinese-American mother. [5] [2] He went to the University of California, Davis where he competed for track and field and ran the 800M and 4x400M relays after being a 3 sport athlete at Berkeley High School. [1]
After working in theater in Los Angeles, as well as appearing in a few television series, he was cast on the Netflix series Black Summer. He is also a graphic designer and comic book artist. [3]

David Benjamin Wain is an American comedian, writer, actor, and director. He has co-written and directed six feature films, including Wet Hot American Summer (2001), Role Models (2008), Wanderlust (2012) and They Came Together (2014). He has also served as a creator, producer, writer and director on a number of television series, including Wet Hot American Summer: Ten Years Later, Wet Hot American Summer: First Day of Camp, Childrens Hospital and Medical Police. He has had small roles in most of the films and TV series he has produced or directed. Wain had a starring voice role as The Warden on the 2008–2014 Adult Swim animated series Superjail!, and has provided the voices for Courtney Wheeler and Grover Fischoeder on Bob's Burgers since 2012.

Black Summer is an American horror drama television series created by Karl Schaefer and John Hyams. It is a spinoff of Z Nation. The first season, consisting of eight episodes, was released on Netflix on April 11, 2019. The series is produced by The Asylum, the same production company behind Z Nation, and is written and directed primarily by Hyams, with Abram Cox writing and directing additional episodes. Jaime King stars in the lead role as Rose, a mother who is separated from her daughter during the earliest and deadliest days of a zombie apocalypse. The series garnered moderate approval from critics. Many of the filming locations are around and within Calgary, Alberta.
