Justine Blazer is a singer, songwriter, recording artist, and record producer. [1] Her music has been featured on CMT and she has opened shows for such artists as Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Lee Brice, Kathy Mattea, and Lonestar. [2] [3] In 2022, her album Girl Singing the Blues peaked at #18 on Billboard's Top 100 Blues Albums and won a Josie Music Award for Blues Album of the Year in 2023. [2] [4]

Early life

Justine Blazer was born in Detroit, Michigan to parents Tom and Cindy Blazer. [5] [6] She began taking dance, voice, acting, and piano lessons as a child. As a teenager she studied songwriting, producing, and recording. She graduated from Canton High School and attended Eastern Michigan University. [7] [8] [1] She modeled in New York City, where she lived for five years, as well as learning to play the guitar and harmonica. [9] [6]

Career

Blazer is a singer, songwriter, musician (electric guitar, acoustic guitar, harmonica), recording artist, and record producer. She began her professional career in 2004, recording her first album, Just a Justine Christmas. [9] Her music has been featured on CMT and she has shared the stage with such artists as Jason Aldean, Justin Moore, Lee Brice, Kathy Mattea, and Lonestar. [2]

Blazer has performed as a solo artist on NBC's Today in Nashville and her songs have been featured in Hashtag Blessed (prime video) and the Young and the Restless. [10] [11] [12] [13] She cites her musical influences as Alanis Morissette, Faith Hill, Celine Dion, and Shania Twain. [14] [5] In 2011, she won first place in the "Battle of the Bands" contest, sponsored by Dodge Ram Trucks, in their search to find a new "country star", in Texas. [8] She has released nine studio albums and has written and recorded with Kitt Wakeley, Kim Cameron, and Syreeta Thompson, among others. [15] [16] [17] Blazer was a speaker and panelist at "Music Expo" in 2020 and a featured performer at NAMM in 2024. [18] [19]

In 2023, she won a Josie Music Award for Blues Album of the Year for Girl Singing the Blues, as well as winning a Global Music Award and Intercontinental Music Award, among others. [4]

Judy Mae Rodman is an American country music singer and songwriter. Coal is an album by American country artist Kathy Mattea. It was released on April 1, 2008 via Captain Potato Records and Thirty Tigers. The album consisted of 11 tracks, all of which were stemmed from themes of coal mining in the Appalachian region of the United States. A majority of the album's material were covers of songs previously recorded by other singer-songwriters such as Hazel Dickens and Jean Ritchie. Coal received several positive reviews from critics at the time of its release. It was also Mattea's first album to top the American bluegrass chart and was nominated by the Grammy Awards.
