Zealand at 7,031 km2 is the largest and most populous island in Denmark proper. Zealand had a population of 2,319,705 on 1 January 2020, comprising 40% of the country's population.

Vordingborg is a market town and old ferry town on the south coast of the island of Zealand in Denmark. Because of three large estates surrounding the town, a coherent urban development has not been possible, which is the reason why three satellite towns have emerged around the town. Within the ring of estates, the town has a population of 12,397, and a population of 18,286 when including the three satellite towns of Ørslev, Nyråd, and Stensved, situated 1, 3 and 5 kilometres, respectively, from the town of Vordingborg. Vordingborg is located in Vordingborg Municipality in Region Zealand. Vordingborg Municipality (Kommune) has a population of 45,751.
Borup is a railway town in Zealand, Denmark. It lies about 40 km southwest of Copenhagen on the railroad between Roskilde and Ringsted. It is located in Køge Municipality in Region Zealand. With a population of 4,844, it is the second largest town of the municipality.
Sundby is a town with a population of 3,233 on the east coast of the Danish island of Lolland located at the western shore of Guldborgsund just opposite the town of Nykøbing Falster on Falster. Skjoldenæsholm Castle is a manor house located 11 kilometres north-east of Ringsted, Denmark, standing on the west side of one of the many lakes which dominate the area. The Neoclassical main building, possibly by Philip de Lange, is now run as a hotel and conference centre while the grounds play host to both the Skjoldenæsholm Tram Museum and a golf course. The rest of the land is mostly forested.

Gyldenløves Høj is a high point on Sjælland, used to be the highest at 125.5 m above mean sea level. Kobanke near Rønnede is the highest natural point, however, at 122.9 m, as Gyldenløves Høj is only 121.3 m without the artificial mound constructed at the summit.
