K. T. Kosalram (1915-1985) was an Indian politician. He was also a freedom fighter and a congressman. He owned Dina Sethi, a newspaper from Purasawakkam, Chennai.

K. T. Kosalram was born in 1915 and played a significant role in India's struggle for independence. He actively participated in the Civil Disobedience Movement in 1932 and the Quit India Movement in 1942. [1] Kosalram was notably involved in the burning of the Kurumbur Railway Station during the 1942 uprisings,an act for which he was arrested,sentenced,and imprisoned. [1] He also served as the secretary of the Tirunelveli District Satyagraha Committee.[ citation needed ]
Kosalram's political career began with his service as a Member of the then composite Madras State Legislative Assembly from 1946 to 1956,followed by his tenure in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council from 1957 to 1962. [2] He continued his legislative service as a Member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 1962 to 1967. [2] Later,he was a member of Lok Sabha elected from Tiruchendur constituency in 1977,1980 and 1984 elections. [1] [3] [4] [5] [6]
In addition to his political roles,Kosalram organized the first Rehabilitation Centre for Sri Lankan repatriates at Nazareth in 1954. [2] He also owned and operated Dina Sethi,a newspaper based in Purasawakkam,Chennai. [1]
A school in Tuticorin has been named in his honor,as well as the Sathankulam Bus Stand. [7] In recognition of his centenary year,a special cover was released on 19 May 2015,in Tuticorin to celebrate his legacy. [8] [9]
Nagapattinam is a town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu and the administrative headquarters of Nagapattinam district. The town came to prominence during the period of Medieval Cholas and served as their important port for commerce and east-bound naval expeditions. It continued to be a part of Thanjavur district in Independent India. In 1991,it was made the headquarters of the newly created Nagapattinam District. Nagapattinam is administered by a Special grade municipality covering an area of 17.92 km2 (6.92 sq mi) and had a population of 102,905 as of 2011.
Tirunelveli,also known as Nellai and historically as Tinnevelly,is a major city in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of the Tirunelveli District. It is the fourth-largest municipal corporation in the state after Chennai,Coimbatore,and Madurai. Tirunelveli is located 624 km (388 mi) southwest of the state capital Chennai,58 km (36 mi) away from Thoothukudi,and 73 km (45 mi) from Kanyakumari. The downtown is located on the west bank of the Thamirabarani River;its twin Palayamkottai is on the east bank. The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam is an Indian regional political party in the state of Tamil Nadu. It is a Dravidian party founded by the former leader of the opposition in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly Vijayakant (Captain) at Madurai on 14 September 2005. The party was led by its founder until 14 December 2023 from its date of founding. From 14 December 2023,the DMDK is led by Vijayakant's wife Premallatha Vijayakant as general secretary of the party. The party served as the main opposition party in the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 27 May 2011 to 21 February 2016. The headquarters of the party is called Captain Aalayam,which is located at Jawaharlal Nehru Salai,Koyambedu,Chennai.
The thirteenth legislative assembly election,of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections,with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats,and its leader,M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result,DMK formed a minority government with its allies,which is the first in the state since the 1952 election. 13th Assembly was instituted due to this election.

Subburaman Thirunavukkarasar is an Indian politician. He was the State President of Tamil Nadu Congress Committee till 2 February 2019 and former secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC) of the Indian National Congress (INC) party. His introduction to politics in 1977 was facilitated by former Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu,M. G. Ramachandran. Ramachandran founded the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in 1972 and was facing his first elections for the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election in 1977. He identified Thirunavukkarasar,a lawyer by profession,to contest the Aranthangi assembly constituency. Thirunavukkarasar won the seat,aged 27,and was elected as the Deputy Speaker of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly. He continued in that capacity till 1980. Subsequently,he served as Tamil Nadu state minister from 1980 to 1987 in the MGR cabinet,holding portfolios that included Industries,Housing Board,Excise and Handlooms. Later,he became a member of the Lok Sabha –the lower house of the Parliament of India –when he won the erstwhile Pudukottai Lok Sabha constituency. He served as Union Minister of state for shipping and later for telecommunications and information technology.
Kalyanasundaram Anbazhagan was an Indian politician. He was a long-standing leader of the Dravidian movement and was the General Secretary of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party (DMK) for nine terms. He has held several cabinet ministerial portfolios in the Tamil Nadu government under M. Karunanidhi including Finance,Education and Health and Social Welfare. He was elected as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly on nine occasions. He was earlier elected to the Lok Sabha the lower house of India's Parliament from Tiruchengode and was also a member of the Madras Legislative Council. He served as the opposition leader of Tamil Nadu assembly from 2001 to 2006. He was popularly referred to as Perasiriyar (Professor) as he was a lecturer in Tamil in Pachaiyappa's College before resigning to contest elections in 1957.

He was the second son of Kesavan Appavu Nadar,born on 12 June 1895 at Nesarpuram,Palliyadi in Vilavancode Taluk,Kanyakumari district. He graduated from Maharaja's College in Thiruvananthapuram,and studied at law college in Thiruvananthapuram. He began practising in 1921. He was among those involved with the merger of four Taluks from Southern Travancore to Tamil Nadu.
