Kaattu Vithachavar (meaning: people scattered by the wind) is a 2018 Malayalam film which is based on atrocities committed by the Kerala police during the Indian Emergency period. It mentions the Rajan case, Kakkayam torture camp and Uruttal [1] [2] [3] [4] [5]
R. Jayaram Padikkal was an IPS officer. He had served as the Director General of Police (DGP), the highest rank in the force in the period 1993–94.
The Rajan case refers to the death of P. Rajan, a student of the Regional Engineering College, Calicut, as a result of torture in local police custody in Kakkayam, Kerala during the nationwide Emergency in India in 1976, and the legal battle that followed, which revealed facts of the incident to the public. His remains are yet to be recovered.

Produced by Shimoga Creations, 7 J Films, and Trends Ad Film Makers, in association with Unni R., the film stars Anaswara Rajan, Nandhana Varma, Gopika Ramesh, and Meenakshi Unnikrishnan in the lead roles. Anaswara Rajan stars as Rasiya, a girl who desires to sing aloud Adhan, the Islamic summons to prayer. It also features Joy Mathew, Thesni Khan, Vineeth, Sreekanth Murali, and Prakash Bare in supporting roles. The screenplay was written by Shabna Mohammed, and Ouseppachan composed the soundtrack. Arjun Ravi served as the cinematographer. Development of the film began in September 2018 and principal photography took place in June 2019.

Kakkayam police torture camp was located in the forested areas of Kakkayam, Kozhikode, Keralam. The camp was operational during the Indian Emergency period, primarily targeting Naxals. The Rajan case happened there.
Uruttal or Uruttu is a type of torture which was used in 20th century Keralam. It was particularly common during the Indian Emergency period for interrogation. In the Rajan case it was done in the Kakkayam torture camp. It was a common torture to captured Naxals.
