The 1920 Summer Olympics, officially known as the Games of the VII Olympiad and commonly known as Antwerp 1920, were an international multi-sport event held in 1920 in Antwerp, Belgium.
The Biathlon World Cup is a top-level biathlon season-long competition series. It has been held since the winter seasons of 1977–78 for men and 1982–83 for women. The women's seasons until 1986–87 season were called the European Cup, although participation was not restricted to Europeans.
The Olympisch Stadion or Kielstadion[ˈkilstaːdijɔn]) was built as the main stadium for the 1920 Summer Olympics in Antwerp. Stefanie Böhler is a German former cross-country skier who competed between 1999 and 2018. She won a silver medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin. Her best individual finish was 20th in both the individual sprint and the 30 km events at those same games.
Aino-Kaisa Saarinen is a retired Finnish cross-country skier who competed in the World Cup between 1998 and 2018. With 354 individual World Cup starts, Saarinen is the current record holder for both men and women, with Stefanie Böhler in second place with 343.
Katri "Kaisa" Vellamo Parviainen was a Finnish athlete. She competed in the javelin throw at the 1948 and 1952 Olympics and won a silver medal in 1948, finishing 16th in 1952; in 1948 she also placed 13th in the long jump.
Kaisa Varis is a Finnish retired cross-country skier and biathlete. Her career has been marred by doping convictions: as a cross-country skier, she was involved but not suspended in a doping scandal and in 2003 she was suspended two years for doping use. After her suspension, she returned as a biathlete in 2007, but in 2008 she received a lifetime ban from all International Biathlon Union (IBU) competitions after another positive doping test. However, her lifetime ban was overturned in March 2009 because the Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that the IBU failed to adhere to correct testing procedures; she remains eligible to compete in biathlon.
Turun Urheiluliitto (TuUL) is a sports club from Turku, Finland that was founded in 1901. The club includes sports teams for cross-country skiing, bowling, volleyball, ice skating, boxing, cycling, triathlon, gymnastics, and track and field.
Finland first participated at the Olympic Games in 1908, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games and every Winter Olympic Games since then. Finland was also the host nation for the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. Finnish athletes have won a total of 305 medals at the Summer Games, mostly in athletics and wrestling. Kaisa Leena Mäkäräinen is a Finnish former world-champion and 3-time world-cup-winning biathlete, who currently competes for Kontiolahden Urheilijat. Outside sports, Mäkäräinen is currently studying to be a Physics teacher at the University of Eastern Finland in Joensuu. Her team coach is Jonne Kähkönen, while Jarmo Punkkinen is her ski coach.
Darya Uladzimirauna Domracheva is a retired Belarusian biathlete and coach who competed in the Biathlon World Cup from 2006 to 2018. She won a gold medal in the 4×6 km relay and a silver medal in the mass start competition at the 2018 Winter Olympics, three gold medals in the pursuit, individual, and mass start competitions at the 2014 Winter Olympics, and a bronze medal in the individual competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics. She was a Biathlon World Cup overall winner for the 2014–15 season.
Anastasiya Vladimirovna Kuzmina is a retired Russian-born Slovak biathlete.
The Women's team sprint at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 was held on 2 March 2011. Sprint qualifying at 12:00 CET with finals at 14:15 CET. The defending world champions were Finland's Virpi Kuitunen and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen while the defending Olympic champions were Germany's Evi Sachenbacher-Stehle and Claudia Nystad. Kuitunen retired after the 2009-10 season.
The Women's 10 kilometre classical at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 was held on 28 February 2011 at 13:00 CET. A 5 km qualifying event took place on 23 February. The defending world champion was Finland's Aino-Kaisa Saarinen while the defending Olympic champion was Sweden's Charlotte Kalla.
The Women's 4 × 5 kilometre relay at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships 2011 was held on 3 March 2011 at 14:00 CET. The defending world champions were the Finnish team of Pirjo Muranen, Virpi Kuitunen, Riitta-Liisa Roponen and Aino-Kaisa Saarinen while the defending Olympic champions were the Norwegian team of Vibeke Skofterud, Therese Johaug, Kristin Størmer Steira and Marit Bjørgen. Kuitunen retired after the 2009-10 season.
Finland competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7 to 23 February 2014. The Finnish team consisted of 103 competitors who participated in alpine skiing, biathlon, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, ice hockey, ski jumping, snowboarding, and speed skating.
The 2013–14 Biathlon World Cup was a multi-race tournament over a season of biathlon, organised by the International Biathlon Union. The season started on 24 November 2013 in Östersund, Sweden, and ended on 23 March 2014 in Holmenkollen, Norway.
