Kaj Valentin Turunen (born 27 December 1960 in Lohja) is a Finnish politician. Turunen was elected to the Finnish Parliament in the 2011 election as a The Finns Party candidate from the electoral district of Southern Savonia with 2,631 votes. [1] [2] In 2015,he won a seat in South-Eastern Finland.
On 13 June 2017,Turunen and 19 others left the Finns Party parliamentary group to found the New Alternative parliamentary group. [3] In April 2018,he left the party to join the National Coalition Party. [4]
Turunen has a professional education as a construction worker (1978,Jyväskylän ammattikoulu),and has further professional qualifications in entrepreneurship (2008) and leadership (2011),both from JAMK University of Applied Sciences.
The National Coalition Party is a liberal-conservative political party in Finland.
The Finns Party,formerly known as the True Finns,is a right-wing populist political party in Finland. It was founded in 1995 following the dissolution of the Finnish Rural Party.
Same-sex marriage has been legal in Finland since 1 March 2017. A bill for the legalisation of same-sex marriages was approved by the Finnish Parliament in a vote of 101–90 on 12 December 2014 and signed into law by President Sauli Niinistöon 20 February 2015. Further legislation to harmonise other laws with the legalisation of same-sex marriage was passed in 2016. The law took effect on 1 March 2017. Finland was the last Nordic sovereign state to legalise same-sex marriage,the 13th country in Europe overall,and the 21st worldwide.
Lesbian,gay,bisexual,and transgender (LGBT) rights in Finland are among the most advanced in Europe for gay rights. Both male and female same-sex sexual activity have been legal in Finland since 1971 with "promotion" thereof decriminalized and the age of consent equalized in 1999. Homosexuality was declassified as an illness in 1981. Discrimination based on sexual orientation in areas such as employment,the provision of goods and services,etc.,was criminalized in 1995 and discrimination based on gender identity in 2005. In 2020,Finland implemented severe restrictions on transgender people from accessing gender-affirming healthcare.

Reijo Henrik Hongisto is a Finnish policeman and politician. He is a member of the Parliament of Finland since 2011,representing the Finns Party 2011–2017. On 13 June 2017,Hongisto and 19 others left the Finns Party parliamentary group to found the New Alternative parliamentary group.
Maria Tuulia Lohela is a Finnish politician. She has served as a Member of the Parliament of Finland from 2011 to 2019. After having maintained her seat in the 2015 election,Lohela was Speaker of the Parliament of Finland from 2015 to 2018. 36 years old when elected Speaker,she was one of the youngest MPs to hold that office in the parliament's history. Before her parliamentary career,she took her bachelor's degree at the University of Turku,majoring in English language. She has also served as a member of the Turku City Council from 2009 to 2012 and again from 2017 to 2019.
Jari Tapani Lindström is a Finnish politician and former Minister of Employment. He represented the Finns Party till 2017 and was first elected to the Parliament in 2011 in the former constituency of Kymi. In 2014,Lindström was appointed the chairman of the Finns Party parliamentary group. In the 2015 elections he maintained his seat,standing in the newly formed South-Eastern constituency. He was appointed as both Minister of Justice and Minister of Employment in May 2015.
Parliamentary elections were held in Finland on 14 April 2019. For the first time,no party received more than 20% of the vote. The Centre Party,which had been the largest party following the 2015 elections,dropped to fourth place,losing 18 seats and recording its lowest vote share since 1917. The Social Democratic Party saw the biggest gains,winning six more seats and narrowly becoming the largest party for the first time since 1999. The Green League and the Left Alliance also gained five and four seats respectively.
Presidential elections were held in Finland on 28 January 2018. The incumbent Sauli Niinistöreceived 62.7% of the vote and was elected for a second term,avoiding a second round. The term is from 1 March 2018 to 1 February 2024 (if 2024 presidential election doesn't go to a second ballot) or 1 March 2024. Although the President is elected by direct election,Niinistögained a plurality in all municipalities and a majority in all but 13 municipalities.
Simon Jakob Benjamin Elo is a Finnish politician and a former Member of Parliament. He was a representative in the Finns Party until 2017 and was the leader of Finns Party Youth from 2010 to 2014. He was elected to the Parliament for Uusimaa in 2015. He has also sat in the Espoo City Council since 2012.
