The Kangy Angy Maintenance Centre is a railway depot at Kangy Angy on the Central Coast, New South Wales to maintain the NSW TrainLink D sets. The depot was officially opened on 24 February 2021.
The depot is almost 500,000 square metres (5,400,000 sq ft) in size and has about 6 kilometres (3.7 mi) of electric rail lines. It runs 24/7 and is operated by UGL Rail under a 15-year contract.
In 2017, Transport for NSW awarded a contract to John Holland to build a new depot adjacent to the Main Northern line at Kangy Angy to maintain the NSW TrainLink D sets. [1] Construction commenced in May 2018 with the depot. [2] [3]
Major construction was completed in 2020 and the first D set arrived at the facility in October 2020. [4] The facility was officially opened on 24 February 2021. [5]
CityRail was a passenger railway brand operated by the State Rail Authority from 1989 to 2003 and by RailCorp from 2003 to 2013 with services in and around Sydney, Newcastle and Wollongong, the three largest cities in New South Wales, Australia. It was established in January 1989 and abolished in June 2013 when it was superseded by Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink.
The Sydney Trains M sets, also referred to as the Millennium trains, are a class of electric multiple units that operate on the Sydney Trains network. Built by EDi Rail between 2002 and 2005, the first sets initially entered service under the CityRail brand on 1 July 2002 after short delays due to electrical defects. The M sets were built as "fourth generation" trains for Sydney's suburban rail fleet, replacing the 1960s Tulloch carriages and providing extra capacity on the suburban rail network. The sets currently operate on the T2 Inner West & Leppington, T3 Bankstown, T5 Cumberland, T7 Olympic Park and T8 Airport & South lines.

While it used to operate a factory in Taree, the plant was shut down and the equipment sold off.

The Intercity Express Programme (IEP) is an initiative of the Department for Transport (DfT) in the United Kingdom to procure new trains to replace the InterCity 125 and InterCity 225 fleets on the East Coast Main Line and Great Western Main Line. These new trains would be built by Hitachi as part of their A-train family, classified as Class 800 electro-diesel units and Class 801 electric multiple units. Hitachi designated the units as the AT300 family, which is their Intercity High Speed fleet. Other AT300 units have also been ordered for other train operating companies, which are not part of the IEP.
The Sydney Trains A & B sets, also referred to as the Waratah trains, are classes of electric multiple units that currently operate on the Sydney Trains network. Based on the M sets, the Waratahs were manufactured by a joint consortium between CRRC and Downer Rail, with initial construction taking place overseas in Changchun before final assembly at Downer Rail's Cardiff Locomotive Workshops. The sets were named after the Waratah flower, which is the state's floral emblem.
