Kapil Talwalkar (born March 8, 1993) is an Indian American actor and musician. He is best known for portraying Tobin in NBC's musical dramedy Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist and Neil Valluri in the sequel sitcom Night Court .
Born in India, Talwalkar grew up in Cupertino, California. He has been acting since he was a teenager.
Talwalkar majored in international relations at USC Dornsife. He has a minor at the USC School of Dramatics Arts. [1] [2]
After graduation, he trained in Meisner technique under William Esper at the Esper Studio and Joshua Bitton in Los Angeles.
Talwalkar launched his professional acting career as a hip origami prodigy in Animals out of Paper, which opened East West Players’ 50th season. [3] In 2018, he was cast in the ABC drama pilot False Profits as a series regular. [4] [5]
He is best known for his main role as Tobin in NBC's Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist . He reprised the role in the Roku film Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas. [6] Talwalkar had previously guest-starred in Lifetime's American Princess and also lends his voice to Nickelodeon’s The Loud House . In late 2021, he joined the casts of NBC's Night Court [7] and the reboot of Charmed on The CW. [8] On December 28, 2023, it was announced that Kapil Talwalkar will depart after one season of Night Court. [9]
Talwalkar has also performed in a number of theatrical productions and plays such as Philip Ridley's Radiant Vermin. [10] [11]

Berg and Aaron Harberts joined Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on NBC as writers and executive producers.
Aaron Harberts is an American television writer and producer. He was a co-showrunner of CBS's Star Trek: Discovery with Gretchen J. Berg until their departure in June 2018. Harberts and Berg have been writing/producing partners since they met as students at Northwestern University. In 2019, Aaron Harberts and Gretchen Berg teamed up again as writers and executive producers for Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on NBC.
Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist is an American jukebox musical comedy-drama television series created by Austin Winsberg that premiered on January 7, 2020, on NBC. The series stars Jane Levy as Zoey Clarke, a software developer who discovers she has the ability to hear the innermost thoughts of people as songs. Each episode features multiple song-and-dance numbers that develop the storyline, with each cast member singing their own character's songs. Except for the season 2 song "Crimson Love," the soundtrack consists entirely of previously written popular songs. The series also stars Skylar Astin, Alex Newell, John Clarence Stewart, Peter Gallagher, Mary Steenburgen, Lauren Graham, Andrew Leeds, Alice Lee, Michael Thomas Grant and Kapil Talwalkar, and Bernadette Peters.
