Karen Barbara Lee (born 1 January 1983) is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and European championships. She specialized in backstroke events. [2] She finished sixth in the 200-metre backstroke (2.10.27) at the 2002 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Riesa, Germany. [3] She was also a member of Team GB starting in 1998, and a varsity swimmer for the Loughborough University team, under head coach Ben Titley. [1] [4]
Lee qualified for the women's 200-metre backstroke, as a member of Team GB, at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens. She finished second behind Katy Sexton (2:11.48) at the British Olympic Trials by 0.38 of a second, in a FINA A-standard of 2:11.86. [5] [6] She challenged seven other swimmers in heat four, including Germany's Antje Buschschulte and Russia's Stanislava Komarova, both of whom were top medal favorites. She faded to seventh place by a 5.39-second margin behind winner Komarova in 2:16.10. Lee missed the semifinals by nearly one second, as she placed twentieth overall in the preliminaries. [7] [8]
Katy Sexton, MBE is a former Olympic swimmer from Great Britain. She became the first British swimmer to win a World Championship title, when she won the Women's 200m Back at the 2003 World Championships. She is twice an Olympian and has represented Great Britain in four World Championships, the first in 1998 when she was 16, and in three Commonwealth Games. She was given the MBE for services to swimming in the 2004 New Year Honours list.
Mary Elizabeth Mohler is an American former competition swimmer and former world record-holder in the Women's 200-meter butterfly.

Jennifer Fratesi is a Canadian former competitive swimmer who specialized in backstroke events. Fratesi set a Canadian record of 2:11.16 in the 200-metre backstroke at the 2001 FINA World Championships in Fukuoka, Japan, placing 4th in the world. This national record would last nearly a decade, one of the oldest in the country. Fratesi grew up in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario swimming for the Sault Ste Marie Aquatics club until age 15, then relocated to the national swim center in Waterloo Ontario. She saw an immediate drop in her times here under the direction of Bud McAllister, an American born coach. Fratesi went on to win 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze at the Junior Olympics in Sydney, Australia and won 10 national senior titles in her career.
Frances Sarah Adcock is a British-born Australian former competition swimmer who specialized in backstroke events.
Elizabeth Warden is a Canadian former competitive swimmer who specialized in backstroke and individual medley events. She won a silver medal in the 400-metre individual medley at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, with a time of 4:47.69. Warden was also a member of the swimming team, and a graduate of the University of Toronto.
Viktor Bodrogi is a Hungarian former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke and butterfly events. He is a two-time Olympian, a five-time All-American honoree, and a multiple-time Hungarian title and record holder in both backstroke and butterfly. He also defended two titles in the same stroke at the 2000 and 2001 European Junior Swimming Championships in Dunkerque, France, and in Valletta, Malta, respectively. Bodrogi is a former varsity swimmer for the USC Trojans under head coach Dave Salo, and a graduate of history and social sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.
Lee Da-hye is a South Korean swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. Lee qualified for the women's 200 m backstroke at the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, by clearing a FINA B-standard entry time of 2:14.88 from the Dong-A Swimming Tournament in Seoul. She challenged seven other swimmers in heat two, including top medal favorite Evelyn Verrasztó of Hungary. She edged out Guatemala's Gisela Morales to claim a fifth spot by half a second in 2:17.73. Lee failed to advance into the semifinals, as she placed twenty-fifth overall in the preliminaries.
Diána Reményi is a Hungarian former swimmer, who specialized in breaststroke and individual medley events. She is a two-time junior European champion, and a finalist at the European Short Course Swimming Championships. She is also a member of Budapesti Spartacus SC, and is coached and trained by György Turi.
Chonlathorn Vorathamrong is a Thai former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. She is a two-time Olympian and a six-time medalist at the Southeast Asian Games.
Şadan Derya Erke is a Turkish former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. She is a two-time Olympian and a member of Istanbul Swimming Club. She previously held Turkish records in the 50, 100, and 200 m backstroke, until they were all broken by Hazal Sarikaya in 2012. Erke is also a graduate of Marmara University in Istanbul.
Eirini Karastergiou is a Greek former swimmer, who specialized in backstroke events. She previously held two Greek records in both 100 and 200 m backstroke, until they were all broken each by Aspasia Petradaki and Stella Boumi in 2009.
Gretchen Gotay Cordero is a Puerto Rican former swimmer, who specialized in freestyle and backstroke events. She won a total of four medals in both freestyle and medley relays at the Central American and Caribbean Games. She is a member of Athens Bulldogs Swim Club under her personal coach Harvey Humphries, and a graduate with a master's degree in sports management at the University of Georgia in Athens.
Saida Iskandarova is an Uzbek former swimmer who specialized in backstroke, but also competed in sprint freestyle. She is a two-time Olympian, and currently the head coach for the Uzbekistan National Swimming Team.
Lisa Chapman is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympics and European championships. She competed internationally in freestyle and individual medley swimming events. She qualified as an Olympian and won a silver medal at the European Short Course Championships in 2004. Chapman attended Loughborough University, where she also competed for the swimming team under head coach Ian Armiger.
Kathryn Evans is an English former competitive swimmer who represented Great Britain in the Olympic Games. Evans specialised in freestyle and individual medley events. She is a two-time Olympian, and a double British champion in the 200 m individual medley. Evans also played for Nova Centurion Swim Club in Nottingham, under head coach Bill Furniss. Evans is the cousin of late rower Acer Nethercott, who competed in the men's eight at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing.
Nicole Zahnd is a retired Swiss swimmer, who specialized in sprint freestyle events. She was born in Bern. She is a two-time Olympian, and a top 8 finalist in the 200 m freestyle at the 2001 European Short Course Swimming Championships in Antwerp, Belgium. Zahnd played for two swimming clubs in Geneva, before she trained under head coach Dirk Reinecke as part of the Swiss national team. Zahnd is also the wife of former medley swimmer and two-time Olympian Yves Platel.
