Martin has been discussed as one of the worst first overall draft picks in NBA history, but he moved on to forge a successful corporate career.
John William McCloskey was an American basketball player, coach and executive. He served as the head coach of the Portland Trail Blazers and general manager of the Detroit Pistons and Minnesota Timberwolves. As general manager of the Pistons, McCloskey assembled the team that would become known as the "Bad Boys" that won NBA championships in 1989 and 1990.
Paul McCloskey is a former professional boxer from Northern Ireland who competed from 2005 to 2013. He held the British super-lightweight title from 2008 to 2009; the European super-lightweight title from 2009 to 2011; and challenged once for the WBA super-lightweight title in 2011. As an amateur, McCloskey won a silver medal in the welterweight division at the 2003 European Union Championships, and was an Irish Senior amateur champion.

Karen Hoff was a Danish sprint canoeist who competed in the late 1940s and early 1950s. She became the first female Olympic champion in the sport of canoeing when she won the gold medal in the K-1 500 m event at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Karen also won two medals at the ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold in K-2 500 m in 1948 and a silver in K-1 500 m in 1950.
John James McCloskey was a professional baseball player and manager. As a player, he appeared in minor league games between 1887 and 1905. He also served as a minor league manager between 1888 and 1932. He is best remembered for managing in the major leagues, with the Louisville Colonels during 1895–1896 and St. Louis Cardinals during 1906–1908, while compiling one of the worst managerial records in major league history.
Marjorie Edith Linton, later known by her married name Marjorie McCloskey, was a Canadian backstroke and freestyle swimmer who competed in the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. In the 1932 Olympics, she was eliminated in the first round of the 100-metre backstroke as well as of the 100-metre freestyle. At the 1930 British Empire Games in Hamilton, at the age of 13, she was a member of the Canadian relay team which won the silver medal in the 4×100-yard freestyle relay.
