Karen Sinclair (born 20 November 1952) is a Welsh Labour politician,who represented the constituency of Clwyd South from when the National Assembly for Wales was established in 1999,until she stood down,in 2011. Born and brought up in Wrexham,north Wales,Sinclair has lived in Llangollen for over twenty years.
Sinclair was educated at Grove Park Girls School,Wrexham. After working in the Youth service for fourteen years,she became a Care Manager with Wrexham Social Services for clients with learning disabilities. She is also a trained CAB adviser. Sinclair has been a school governor at Ysgol Dinas Brân and chair of the Youth Club Committee.
Sinclair was a member of the former Glyndwr District council for seven years,preceding the local Government reorganisation and served on Denbighshire County Council. She chairs the URBAN II West Wrexham regeneration project monitoring committee and is a member of UNISON.
Sinclair contested the Clwyd South constituency in the First National Assembly for Wales elections,and won the seat with a majority of 3,685 against Plaid Cymru's Hywel Williams. [1] She served as Chief Whip for the in the first Morgan government. In 2003 this position was re-organised,and Sinclair also began to serve as Minister for Assembly Business. In September 2005,she was reshuffled out of these roles.
She was diagnosed with bone-marrow cancer in May 2008. In October 2009 she announced that she would step down from her Assembly seat at the next election in 2011. [2] [3]
John Marek is a British politician who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wrexham from 1983 to 2001,and the Member of the Welsh Assembly (AM) for Wrexham from 1999 to 2007. A member of the Labour Party until 2003,he successfully stood for re-election to the Welsh Assembly as a John Marek Independent Party candidate. Marek founded and led Forward Wales from 2003 until 2010,when the party was disbanded and he joined the Conservatives.
Ann Clwyd Roberts was a Welsh Labour politician who served as Member of Parliament (MP) for Cynon Valley for 35 years,from 1984 until 2019. Although she had intended to stand down in 2015,she was re-elected in that year's general election and in 2017 before standing down in 2019. Clwyd is the longest-serving female MP for a Welsh constituency.
Margaret Ann Jones is a Welsh Labour Co-operative politician. Born in Rhyl,Denbighshire,Jones was the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Vale of Clwyd from 1999 until she retired in 2021. From 11 May 2016 until her retirement,she was the Deputy Presiding Officer for the Senedd.

Susan Lesley Griffiths,known as Lesley Griffiths,is a Welsh Labour politician serving as Cabinet Secretary for Culture and Social Justice since 2024. She previously served as Trefnydd of the Senedd and Minister for North Wales from 2021 to 2024,and Minister for Rural Affairs from 2016 to 2024. She worked as a secretary to John Marek and the constituency assistant to Ian Lucas,successive Members of Parliament for Wrexham,and was elected to the Senedd from the Wrexham constituency in 2007. She has held a number of cabinet positions in the Welsh Government. In December 2009 she was appointed Deputy Minister for Science,Innovation and Skills.
Thomas Middlehurst is a British retired politician who served as Leader of Flintshire County Council from 1996 to 1999 and Assembly Secretary for Education and Training in the National Assembly for Wales from 1999 to 2000. A member of the Labour Party,he was Assembly Member (AM) for Alyn and Deeside from 1999 until his retirement in 2003.

Aled Roberts was a Welsh Liberal Democrat politician from Rhosllanerchrugog,Wrexham. Roberts was a Member of the Welsh Assembly (AM) for the North Wales Region from 2011 to 2016. Before his election to the Assembly,he was a Councillor and the leader of Wrexham County Borough Council. He served as the Welsh Language Commissioner from 2019 until his death in 2022.

Simon Robert Maurice Baynes is a British Conservative politician who served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Justice and Tackling Illegal Migration from July to September 2022. He was elected as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Clwyd South at the 2019 general election. Baynes worked in finance for J.P. Morgan Cazenove from 1982 to 2006,before running a small bookshop in Shrewsbury.
The 2022 Wrexham County Borough Council election took place on 5 May 2022 to elect 56 members to Wrexham County Borough Council,the principal council of Wrexham County Borough,Wales. On the same day,elections were held to the other 21 local authorities,and community councils in Wales as part of the 2022 Welsh local elections. The previous Wrexham County Borough all-council election took place in May 2017 and future elections will take place every five years,with the next scheduled for 2027.
