Karen Wood was a British competitive figure skater. She is the 1980 Richmond Trophy champion and a two-time British national champion (1981, 1983) in ladies' singles.

Career

Karen Wood trained in Whitley Bay, Billingham, Durham, and Deeside North Wales, passing her first test in 1971. [1]

In 1976, Wood competed in pair skating with Stephen Baker at the World Junior Championships The pair was coached by Alan Merchant. [1]

As a single skater, Wood placed 15th at the 1981 World Championships and 8th at the 1982 European Championships. [2] After she withdrew from the 1983 European Championships, the National Ice Skating Association decided to remove her from the team to the World Championships, giving the spot to Alison Southwood. [3]

Personal life

Wood had two daughters, Corrinne and Nicole. [1] She died in December 2014 after a prolonged illness. [1]

They competed at the Olympics, World Championships, and European Championships. Earlier in her career, Humphreys won three Senior national titles, two with Philip Askew and one with Justin Lanning when she was aged 15. The following season Lanning and Humphreys took silver defending their British title unsuccessfully against veteran Olympic champions, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean.

The pair competed at the 1980 Winter Olympics, placing fourth.

Sandra Cariboni is a Swiss former competitive figure skater in ladies' singles. She is the 1983 Swiss national champion and finished 11th at the 1984 Winter Olympics.

With his skating partner, Lilah Fear, he is the 2019 Skate Canada bronze medalist, the 2016 CS Lombardia Trophy silver medalist, the 2019 CS Autumn Classic silver medalist, the 2018 Bavarian Open champion, and a two-time British national champion.

Csaba Bálint is a Hungarian former ice dancer. With Judit Péterfy, he is the 1980 World Junior silver medalist and a two-time Hungarian national champion (1982–1983). The duo finished in the top ten at the 1981 European Championships in Innsbruck, Austria; 1982 European Championships in Lyon, France; and 1983 European Championships in Dortmund, West Germany.
