Karina Ibragimova (born 8 July 1996) is a Kazakh amateur boxer. She won the silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games. [1] [2] [3]

Amateur career

A multiple-time medalist at the national championship in the weight category up to 60 kg.

In November 2018, she won a bronze medal in the up to 60 kg weight category at the 10th Women's World Boxing Championship in India, where in the semifinal match she faced the experienced Irish boxer Kellie Anne Harrington and lost to her with a score of 0:5, ending her performance at the world championship. [4]

In October 2023, she became a silver medalist at the Asian Games in Hangzhou (China) in the up to 57 kg, [5] weight category and secured a spot for the 2024 Olympic Games. In the quarterfinals, she defeated Mongolian representative Namuun Monkhor by unanimous decision (5:0), then in the semifinals, she defeated Tajik boxer Mijgona Samadova by split decision (3:2), but in the final, she lost to the experienced Taiwanese representative Lin Yu-Ting by unanimous decision with a score of 0:5.

She won the bronze medal in the Light flyweight event in the 2022 Asian Games.

Kazakhstan competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. It was the nation's sixth consecutive appearance at the Summer Olympics in the post-Soviet era. The National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan fielded a roster of 104 athletes, 55 men and 49 women, to compete across seventeen different sports at these Games, the smallest Summer Olympic team since the nation's debut in Atlanta 1996. Moreover, Kazakhstan did not send teams in any of the team sports for the first time in twenty years. Track and field accounted for the largest number of athletes on the Kazakh squad, with 25 entries. There was a single competitor each in slalom canoeing, track cycling, fencing, and table tennis.

Subedar Manish Kaushik is an Indian boxer who completes in the lightweight division. He is employed with Indian Army as a Junior Commissioned Officer (JCO). Kaushik won the gold medal at the Doha International Boxing Tournament, in his first international appearance. Two years later, Manish won gold at the 2017 National Boxing Games. Manish Kaushik later went to represent India in 2018 Commonwealth Games, winning the silver medal. He represented India in the lightweight division in the 2020 Summer Olympics. Manish hails from the village of Devsar in the Bhiwani district of Haryana. Manish Kaushik won abronze in the 63 kg category at World Championships.

Amit Panghal is the reigning Asian Games champion and a world championships silver-medalist Asian Elite Boxing Championships Panghal failed to defend his gold medal, that he won in 2019, against reigning Olympic and world champion Shakhobidin Zoirov of Uzbekistan to finish second-best in Dubai.
