Karl John is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He received an individual silver medal at the 1970 World Orienteering Championships, and a silver medal in relay in 1972. [1] [2]
Hanne Staff is a Norwegian orienteering competitor who has won three individual World Orienteering Championships gold medals.
Bernt Frilén was a Swedish orienteering competitor, winner of the 1974 Individual World Orienteering Championships. He also has an individual bronze medal from 1972. He was two times Relay World Champion, as a member of the Swedish winning teams in 1972 and 1974, as well as having a silver medal from 1970.
Åge Hadler is a Norwegian orienteering competitor, winner of the 1966 and 1972 individual World Orienteering Championships, relay champion from 1970, and individual bronze medalist from 1968.
Liisa Kaarina Peltola is a Finnish orienteering competitor. She won the 1976 Individual World Orienteering Championships, and took silver medal 1978 and 1979. She is also three times Relay World Champion, as a member of the Finnish winning team 1972, 1978 and 1979.
Ulla Lindkvist was a Swedish orienteering competitor, and the first individual female world champion in this sport. She won the 1966 and 1968 Individual World Orienteering Championships, and finished second 1970. She became Relay World Champion in 1970 as a member of the Swedish team. She also participated on the teams that obtained silver medals in 1968 and 1972.
Birgitta Larsson is a Swedish orienteering competitor. She won two world titles as a member of Swedish relay teams in 1970 and 1974; in 1972 she won an individual bronze and a team silver medal. She continued winning medals at world championships through the 2000s in the masters category.
Daniel Hubmann is a Swiss orienteering competitor, world champion in all three individual disciplines and multiple winner of the overall Orienteering World Cup. He is the brother of Martin Hubmann. Daniel also has his own fan club which is run by New Zealand Orienteer Joseph Lynch.
Sinikka Kukkonen was a Finnish orienteering competitor. She is World Champion in both orienteering and ski orienteering. She became the first World Champion in ski orienteering, in 1975.
Pirjo Seppä is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World Champion. She participated on the Finnish winning team in the 1972 World Orienteering Championships, and also won a silver medal in the individual contest.
Tore Sandvik is a Norwegian orienteering competitor and World champion. He won a gold medal in the 1999 World Orienteering Championships in Inverness with the Norwegian Relay team.
Chris Terkelsen is a Danish orienteering competitor and World champion. He won a gold medal in the 1997 World Orienteering Championships in Grimstad with the Danish Relay team. He received a silver medal in the 2005 World Orienteering Championships in Aichi. He won the overall World Cup in 1998, and received a silver medal in the 2004 European Championships with the Danish relay team.
Johanna Asklöf is a Finnish orienteering competitor and World champion.
Tatiana Ryabkina is a Russian orienteering competitor. She won the O-Ringen in 2012 and had international success.
Dieter Hulliger is a Swiss orienteering competitor. He received an individual bronze medal at the 1970 World Orienteering Championships, and a silver medal in relay in 1972.
The Finnish Orienteering Federation is the governing body for the sport of orienteering in Finland. The federation was founded in 1945 and has approximately 60,000 members.
The Hungarian Orienteering Federation is the governing body for orienteering in Hungary. It is recognized as Hungary's national orienteering association by the International Orienteering Federation (IOF), of which it is a member.
Veijo Tahvanainen is a Finnish orienteering competitor. He received a silver medal in the relay event and finished 10th in the individual event at the 1968 World Orienteering Championships in Linköping. In 1970 he finished 14th in the individual event, and 4th with the Finnish relay team. At the 1972 World Orienteering Championships in Staré Splavy, he placed 9th in the individual contest, and was part of the Swiss relay team.
Magda Horváth is a Hungarian orienteering competitor. At the 1970 World Orienteering Championships in Friedrichroda she finished 19th in the individual event, and received a silver medal in the relay with the Hungarian team. At the 1972 World Championships she finished 8th in the individual event, and fourth in the relay.
Ágnes Hegedűs is a Hungarian orienteering competitor. At the 1970 World Orienteering Championships in Friedrichroda she finished 6th in the individual event, and received a silver medal in the relay with the Hungarian team. In the 1972 World Orienteering Championships she finished fourth in the relay, also with Horváth and Monspart.
Per Kristiansen is a former Norwegian orienteering competitor who competed in the 1950s and 1960s, and later served as an official for the sport at a national level. He became National Champion both individually and in relay, and was twice the individual medal winner at the Scandinavian Championships. He participated at the two first European Orienteering Championships, with a silver medal in relay as his best result.
