Belgaum, officially known as Belagavi, is a city in the Indian state of Karnataka located in its northern part along the Western Ghats. It is the administrative headquarters of the eponymous Belagavi division and Belagavi district. The Government of Karnataka has proposed making Belgaum the second capital of Karnataka alongside Bangalore, hence a second state administrative building Suvarna Vidhana Soudha was inaugurated on 11 October 2012.
Dharwad, also known as Dharwar, is a city located in the northwestern part of the Indian state of Karnataka. It is the headquarters of the Dharwad district of Karnataka and forms a contiguous urban area with the city of Hubballi. It was merged with Hubballi in 1962 to form the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad. It covers an area of 213 km2 (82 sq mi) and is located 430 km (270 mi) northwest of Bangalore, on NH-48, between Bangalore and Pune.
Hindu College is a constituent college of the University of Delhi. Founded in 1899, it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in the sciences, humanities and commerce.
Karnatak University was established at Dharwad in the Indian state of Karnataka in October 1949. It had its official inauguration in March 1950. The campus spans 888 acres (3.59 km2). Dr. D. C. Pavate was the vice-chancellor from 1954 to 1967. The rapid development of the institution is credited to him.

It is drained by the Krishna River and its tributaries the Bhima, Ghataprabha, Malaprabha, and Tungabhadra. North Karnataka lies within the Deccan thorn scrub forests ecoregion, which extends north into eastern Maharashtra.
The Karnataka Vidyavardhaka Sangha was an institution established on 20 July 1890 by Sri R H Deshpande in Dharwad, India which was then under the British rule of Bombay Presidency. This institution was established with the sole objective of promoting Kannada culture and language in times when the Kannada speaking regions of present-day Karnataka were split into six different areas, where Kannada was often overshadowed by other languages. Soon the Sangha morphed into a hub for the Karnataka Ekikarana (Unification) movement and played a pivotal role in the eventual unification of Karnataka. It inspired the establishment of several institutions and organisations across the state. For its invaluable services and contributions to Kannada and Karnataka, this institution was awarded the Ekikarana Award by the Government of Karnataka on the occasion of the 50th year celebrations of Karnataka state in 2006.

In addition, a Visvesvaraya Institute of Advanced Technology (VIAT) is being constructed in Muddenahalli.
Karnatak Science College (KSCD), Dharwad, is an educational institute in the North Karnataka region of India. The Karnatak Science College is the Constituent Science College of Karnatak University Dharwad and offers basic and applied courses in science, both at the undergraduate and the pre-university level.
Dadappa Chintappa "D. C." Pavate, was awarded Padma Bhushan from the Government of India in 1967. He was the vice-chancellor of the Karnatak university Dharwad, and the Governor of Punjab. Pavate was a Cambridge Mathematical Tripos wrangler.
The National Youth Festival in India is an annual gathering of youth with various competitive and collaborative activities. Celebrated to commemorate the birth anniversary of youth icon Swami Vivekananda, it is organized by Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India in collaboration with one of the state governments. It is held in a different state each year during National Youth Week, 12-16 January every year.
Rani Channamma University is a public university in Belagavi established by the government of Karnataka in 2010 It was created by upgrading Kittur Rani Channamma Post Graduate Centre at Belagavi which was established by the Karnatak University, Dharwad in 1982. The university is recognised by University Grants Commission and accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). As of 2021, Rani Channamma University has been awarded "Grade B+" by the NAAC
Sir Siddappa Totappa Kambli (1882-1956) was an Indian politician from Hubli in modern Karnataka.
Bindu Madhav Pathak was an exponent of rudra veena and Sitar. He played Khayal style of music on been. He was an 'A' grade artist of All India Radio. Some of his famous students are Hindraj Divekar, Shrikant Pathak, Ramchandra V Hegde and Jyoti Hegde. He was a recipient of several awards and titles, including the Karnataka Kala Tilak Award, Sri Kanak Purandhar Prashasti, Arya Bhata Award, and "Vidyaparipoorna" title. Pathak retired as the Head of the Department of Music of Karnatak University. He died at 68 on 4 February 2004.
Dr. RN Shetty Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. Due to its proximity to Jubilee Circle, Karnatak College Dharwar, Karnataka University Dharwad, and St. Joseph's High School - the stadium is popular among various educational institutions of Dharwad and the ground is mainly used for organizing matches of football, field hockey and other sports. The stadium has hosted a Ranji Trophy match in 1990 when Karnataka cricket team played against Hyderabad cricket team. This was only time the stadium hosted a cricket match.
Karnatak Lingayat Education Technological University (KLETU), formerly known as B. V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology (BVBCET), colloquially the BVBCollege, is a private university in Hubballi-Dharwad, Karnataka, India. It was upgraded to a university under the KLE Technological University Act, 2012. The school was founded by the KLE Society, Belgavi, in 1947. The University Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor are Dr. Prabhakar Kore, Dr. Ashok Shettar and Dr. Prakash Tewari respectively.
Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad is an autonomous engineering and technology institute in Dharwad, Karnataka, India. IIT Dharwad started functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus, previously of the Water and Land Management Institute (WALMI) in Belur Industrial Area, on the outskirts of Dharwad city. It was formally inaugurated on 28 August 2016. IIT Dharwad's permanent campus is situated at Chikkamalligawad, Dharwad, Karnataka. The campus has been fully operational since March 2023, when it was inaugurated and dedicated to the nation by Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. For the academic year 2016–2017, the institute offered B.Tech courses in three branches, namely. Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Mechanical Engineering. The year 2021 saw the introduction of an additional branch, Engineering physics. As of 2022, the institute expanded to provide four additional courses of study, namely Chemical and Biochemical engineering, Mathematics and Computing, Civil and Infrastructure engineering, and Interdisciplinary Sciences.
Raja Lakhamagouda Sardesai (1864–1942) was an Indian philanthropist, first Barrister-at-Law from Karnataka and a ruler of Vantamuri princely state in Belagavi district. He was the 16th ruler of Vantamuri princely state. He ascended the throne at the age of 13 years in 1877. The princely state had a Wada at Vantamuri which was built by Prabhu Basavantrao and it was submerged in 1978-79 when a dam was constructed at Hidkal.
Saptapur, officially Saptapura is a residential neighborhood and business hub in the south-west of Dharwad city. It is bordered by Malmaddi in the east, Srinagar and KUD in the south, Narayanpur in the north & Kalyan Nagar in the south-east.
Siddeshwar Swami was an Indian spiritual preacher and philosopher known for his teachings on yoga and spirituality. Swami was the head of Jnanayogashrama, an ashram in the city of Vijayapura, in the Indian state of Karnataka. He declined the Padma Shri, India's fourth-highest civilian award, when it was awarded to him in 2018. He had earlier declined an honorary doctorate from the Karnatak University.
