A barrister is a type of lawyer in common law jurisdictions. Barristers mostly specialise in courtroom advocacy and litigation. Their tasks include taking cases in superior courts and tribunals, drafting legal pleadings, researching the philosophy, hypothesis and history of law, and giving expert legal opinions.
A solicitor is a legal practitioner who traditionally deals with most of the legal matters in some jurisdictions. A person must have legally-defined qualifications, which vary from one jurisdiction to another, to be described as a solicitor and enabled to practise there as such. For example, in England and Wales a solicitor is admitted to practise under the provisions of the Solicitors Act 1974. With some exceptions, practising solicitors must possess a practising certificate. There are many more solicitors than barristers in England; they undertake the general aspects of giving legal advice and conducting legal proceedings.

Antonios Sajih Mokbel is an Australian criminal who has been convicted for a number of offences, most prominently commercial drug trafficking. He has spent most of his life in Melbourne, Australia. Operation Purana alleged that he is the mastermind behind the Melbourne amphetamines trade. He has been linked to Carl Williams as well as the killing of several victims of the Melbourne gangland war. He disappeared from Melbourne while on trial in March 2006, and he was arrested by Greek police in Athens, Greece, on 5 June 2007. Prior to his arrest, there was a $1 million bounty for information leading to his capture. According to Victoria Police, this reward still stands for the person who tipped off the police on his whereabouts.
The Supreme Court of Victoria is the highest court in the Australian state of Victoria. Founded in 1852, it is a superior court of common law and equity, with unlimited and inherent jurisdiction within the state.
Frank De Stefano was mayor and councillor of Geelong, Victoria from 1983 to 1993. In 1988 De Stefano was awarded the Order of Australia medal for his services to migrant communities. De Stefano resigned from the Order on 2 October 2008. In 2003 he was imprisoned for ten years on twelve theft charges totalling A$8,606,101.47.

He was a cousin of Jacinta Allan, a Minister in the Victorian state governments of Steve Bracks, John Brumby and Daniel Andrews. He was also a cousin of former test cricketer Graham Yallop and former Australian rules footballers Ken Turner (Collingwood), Jamie Turner (Collingwood) and Max Oppy (Richmond).
Natalie Jane Adams is an Australian judge. She has been a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales since 2016.
Tom Danos is a high-profile barrister in Victoria, Australia. He mainly practices in the area of criminal law, and is Treasurer of the Victorian Criminal Bar Association. Danos is a trustee member of the Maccabi World Union Board. He represented Australian athletes who were injured in the Maccabiah bridge collapse in Israel in 1997. He also represented John Patrick Ford, a convicted man who gave evidence in the trial of alleged drug courier Schapelle Corby in Indonesia.
Susan Coralie Kenny AM is a Judge of the Federal Court of Australia, and formerly a Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria, where she was the first woman to serve on the Court of Appeal.

He is known for his extensive writing and speaking in more than 30 countries on issues related to health law, expert evidence, criminal law, tort law, therapeutic jurisprudence and research integrity. Freckelton is a member of the Victorian Bar Association, the Tasmanian Bar Association, and the Northern Territory Bar Association in Australia.
Julie Anne Dodds-Streeton is a Reserve Judge of the Supreme Court of Victoria. She was formerly a judge of the Federal Court of Australia, having served for four years from February 2010. Prior to that, she was a Justice of Appeal in the Supreme Court of Victoria, having previously been a Judge of the Trial Division of that Court from 2002.
Rita Incerti is a Justice in the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria. She has also been known as Justice Rita Zammit, but reverted to using her maiden name, Incerti, in January 2020.
Joanne Margaret Cameron was a judge of the Trial Division of the Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia, appointed to the bench on 12 August 2014. Ms Cameron resigned from the Supreme court June 2020. She was previously a partner at Mallesons Stephen Jaques.
Lucy McCallum is a judge of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.
