Dame Kathryn Alexandra McDowell, DBE , DL (born 19 December 1959) is a British classical musician and businessperson. Since 2005, she has been the managing director of the London Symphony Orchestra. [1] [2] [3]

Honours

In 2009, McDowell was appointed a Deputy Lieutenant (DL) to the Lord Lieutenant of Greater London. [1] She was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2011 Birthday Honours for services to music [4] and Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (DBE) in the 2023 Birthday Honours, also for services to music. [5]

Dame Elan Closs Stephens is a non-executive director and member for Wales on the BBC Board since 2017, and will become its acting chair from 27 June 2023. Dame Parveen June Kumar is a British doctor who is currently Professor of Medicine and Education at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. From January 2019 until July 2021, Dame Clare was chair of the General Medical Council, the first woman appointed to that role.

Dame Heather Jane McGregor is a British executive, journalist, and academic. She is the Provost and Vice Principal of Heriot-Watt University Dubai since 1 September 2022. Prior to that and since 2016, she has been Executive Dean of Edinburgh Business School, Heriot Watt University. She wrote a column for the Financial Times from 1999 to 2016 as "Mrs Moneypenny", and was the chief executive of Taylor Bennett from 2000 to 2016.
